So my car was broken into 2 days ago. I parked behind a hedge next to my school and they smashed my passenger window. Wrecked the dash and couldn't steal my D3, so they smashed the screen. The loser dropped a watch which I passed on to the RCMP, but I doubt they would do anything with it. Apparently, they tried to open the hood and disable my alarm, but since I parked so close to the bush, I don't think they were able to unhook the hood. Maybe pictures later, but I'm too lazy to transfer them from my camera.

 

I'm looking for a different navigation system now. Possibly one that pops up instead of a giant screen 24/7... but I did like the look of it... very oem.

lol. power on/off. i hate the fact you can't truly turn it off... unless you turn the ignition off.

i've been wanting to get something like this too for my d3. have you tried it yet? what works and what doesnt?

My D3 neither came with a cage nor bracket. I'm pretty sure it's not stolen as I bought it from Best Buy.

That was the only time it ever took so long.

So I realized my alarm was malfunctioning. I went to Ralph's Audio and got them to fix it. The next day, I went downtown to run some errands. In the underground parking lot, I turned the ignition to accessory and changed the playlist for the iPod.

 

Then I started my car and noticed there was no music playing. I looked at the D3 and realized it was still off. It remained off for at least 10-20 seconds. I started pressing buttons, but I think it came on by itself after. That was the first time I had this experience. Anyone else with a similar experience or know why this happened?

1x is always recommended. it doesn't take that long really, unless you're staring at the completion bar. surf the web, chat on im, listen to music.. time flies.

no pics? anyone else try this? my car was scouted once and now im a bit paranoid

so this affects the amp for my sub?

does this mean the d3 is more suited for people who amp their speakers? i replaced my speakers with low end boston acoustics when one of the stock blew. they were fine without amps when i had the alpine cd deck

bland, i know. i was going to add si underneath, but it looked out of place. if any of you got ideas, let me know and i'll make changes.

did you try ritek/fujifilm? make sure ur not using any memory/cpu intensive apps while burning at 1x speed. no need to try other speeds because if 1x doesn't work, others wouldnt

I'm curious. Although I am nowhere near the Avic east/west border, what happens when you live right on the border and you frequently travel between the east and west side? Does the AVIC keep telling you to change dvds? Needless to say, this concerns only nav units such as the D3 which require a disc for nav functionality.

i downloaded dvd decrypter and despite what i read (skimmed) from this thread, it is still free to use

 

someone said iso format does not use mds file, which is true, but for some reason dvd decrypter creates extra file formats when creating iso files.

 

i burnt my working west copy with dvd decrypter @ 1x speed on a FujiFilm +R DL dvd which is really a rebranded Ritek disc. first try no problem. i have an LG sata burner. i'm not going to copy east disc because i won't be needing it anytime soon or ever and i don't want to waste dvds

 

i didn't even need to close anything and i had a lot of crap open... 3ds max, wmp11, photoshop, bittorrent, http server, squeeze center (mp3 server).

will there ever be support for asian characters with the ipod cable or does pioneer only cater to english speaking people?

how can anyone watch a movie while driving anyway? I can barely look at my avic for street names while driving. and by barely, i mean i can't

the d3 accepts such large images? i thought it was only up to 500x240

anyone know the steps to properly configure the sound settings on the d3? which setting should i tune first before the others and so on? i had my alpine properly set up, but can't seem to find a balance with the d3.

diff time of the day. first pic in this topic was taken at night. i didnt care if you guys couldn't see the rest of the dash, main point was the lcd screen.

 

the 2nd group was taken on the weekend and it was freaking sunny. first pic in 2nd group was taken using auto function with flourescent lighting and the third pic was taken using settings i programmed that allow images to seem brighter than they really are.

 

the 2nd group was to show angle of installs, therefore it was important to show whole dash.

 

i know how to work my camera!! my trusty sony dsc-t33. it's all banged up and dented =(

what you are talking about is horizontal angle. my problem was vertical angle

i just did what you did and mounted it on the d3 itself. the thing is that when i was testing the connections, i think i saw the gps icons go green. after i put everything back together and went for a test drive, they are orange. what do the colours mean? is there yellow? i think i saw yellow once.
