1.
looks good. i have too been told that it wouldnt work in my 02 suburban but it looks like your dash is about the same. crutchfield site said it wouldnt work so i'm not sure. and i havent found anything on this site to verify it. anyone know what the deal is? i have Onstar (dont use it) and a good factory system but i dont think its a bose. thx!
It's not the same. GM changed their stereo opening in 03 from 1.5 din to double din. It put mine in a 01 Silverado so it can be done, but you must have a lot of time and patience to do it. I have not posted anyt
 2. I re-paired my phone following Ducatiboy's instructions doing a level 3 reset. It totally eliminated any echo (razor V3, Cingular), but the microphone level is still too low. Did I miss something somewhere? Is there a mic gain that I can set somewhere? It seems like there should be one on the volume screen with the telephone, guidance, and other settings. If someone knows how to increase the gain on the microphone, please let me know. Thanks!
 3. Does anyone know if there is a way to determine if you already have the firmware update? Can you tell by looking at the hardware version? I have a newer unit (August 06 I think) that is bypassed. I have the original microphone (which I'm considering replacing). I have not done the level 3 reset and re-pair the phone with the volume turned down, but I'm going to try this next. My wife reports that "it sounds like I'm a long way away" when she talks to me on bluetooth. When I turn up the volume to where I want it, she says that it echos. Anyone had any success by replacing the micro
 4. I think I already found the answer to this question in http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1255. It looks like it will be "updating" until I get a NavTraffic subscription.
 5. I just got my Z-1 installed and changed my XM subscription over to my new tuner. The XM radio works fine, but right under the "BT" (blue tooth) symbol on the map screen, it shows "updating". Does anyone know why this is there and won't go away. Is it because I don't have a subscription to NavTraffic maybe? Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
 6.
hey silveradojim, im guessing you also have a silverado. I have purchased a small camera and am thinking about putting it in the tailgate protector lip thing. There is already a good angle on it. i think it will give me a good view of my hitch and far enough beyond that to be useful. im not sure when im gunna be able to install it but when i do ill let ya know. I was also thinking about installing it in the tailgate handle bezel, but then im afraid i wont be able to see close enough behind the truck.
Let me know how it goes. I'm guessing that you got a
 7.
http://avssys.net/product/camera/page_so3nw.html Excellent cam and sells for @$66 (you can get it from 'ehey' cheaper) . It has a @4mm lens, 420 lines, 1/3 sony HAD, and 0.1 Lux (which is very good). Stick with Sony technology and stay away from Sharp technology. And of course, make sure it is weatherproof. There really isn't a need for infrared, due to the grain it produces. If you would like to see live shots, one with infrared and one without, PM me and I will post a link where you can compare the differences.
Is there a version of this camera that h
 8.
hey guys...have a question regarding backup camera. are you guys tapping into the power from the rear of the car or in the front? i was thinking of tapping into the reverse wire connected to the reverse light in the rear of my car. will this work? thanks
You can do that, but then the camera will only work when the vehicle is in reverse. You will not be able to use the camera driving down the road if you so desire. If don't ever want to look behind you with it going forward, then it's a decent alternative.
 9.
I have a 2001 HD I'm about ready to install my Z1 into (was originally going to install in my Z06 but plans changed....I'm going car computer in that one). My trucks opening is a 1.5 DIN so I've got a radio bracket and dash bezel coming in next week. I don't think I have the bose in my truck (don't think it was offered in the first year of these trucks) so I'll just use the AVIC's onboard amp for right now. Eventually I might go with a 5 channel surrond setup but for now we'll use the stock speakers. Jay
Jay, Did you get your Z-1 insta
