1. thanks. I've tried putting everything on the same ground, but am still getting background noise and it's worse when I turn on the headlights. As a sidenote, everything was originally working well with no background noise, however I hadn't yet installed the sub itself. The speaker wire for the sub had power running to it and touched a piece of metal as I was about to hook up the sub, causing a loud pop over the speakers. That's when the background noise started, and now it won't stop. Any other suggestions?
2. I have a general install question. I installed a Z2 in a honda element and have installed an amp for the 4 speakers. I also have a separate amp for a sub. I am getting tons of background noise in the speakers (especially whenever I step on the gas, etc). I realize that is a basic install question that is probably not Z2 specific, but hope you can help me out. Thanks!
3. Yep that's probably it. Thanks guys!
4. I don't have the car today. I'll check tomorrow. What do you think is going on?
5. I haven't touched any of the cables (before or after running the update), so I'm wondering if anything could have happened as a result of the update or resetting the system?
6. I installed the CD update no problem. I haven't done the wiring yet, however my XM stopped working. It worked before I ran the update. The XM menus work and everything seems normal, but there is no sound. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for your help.
7. I'll have to check when I get out of work, but I'm pretty sure I had it in DVD mode.
8. Here is my 2nd dumb question in 24hrs: I've set up my reverse wire correctly (when I put the car in reverse, the reverse screen comes on), but I'm having no luck with the backup camera trick. I've taken an RCA cable and connected the video out to the rear camera in. I haven't set up a switch yet, but expect that the DVD video should come on when the car is in reverse. Is there some way that dvd should be assigned to the video out, or is there something else I'm missing? Thanks!
9. That sounds right. I'll check it tonight when I'm done with work. Thanks everyone!
10. Hi. I am in the process of installing a Z2 in my 2007 Element. I've preliminarily installed the unit (made the basic connections, etc, but still troubleshooting). I've tapped into the E-brake but the Z2 is not recognizing that i've done this (in the hardware connections menu it says the E brake isn't hooked up- perhaps I've spliced into the ground instead of the positive E-brake wire- will have to recheck). I am getting sound from AM/FM, but nothing from the DVD or CD. Is the lack of sound related to the problem with the E-brake wire? Thanks everyone!

Extension cable - GPS

I see some old posts say that there is no extention for the gps antenna. has anyone come up with anything in the last few months? I am installing an antenna in my element using the following popular method used by honda element owners, but i'm coming up about a foot short: http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums ... ack+camera thanks!

Extension cable - GPS
I can sell you an extension with connectors that will work, but where are you running this wire that it won't reach the head unit? If your running it from the back of an SUV, your probably bettor off coming down one side of the headliner inot an Apillar and then over to the head unit.
will there be any signall loss with an extension? i need about 5 ft
13. My girlfriend has an element and I am looking into a gti...
14. Ok, thanks. However, I thought the openings might be different, since the car has been redesigned for 2007.
