So the AVIC doesn't assume that it might be possible that, using the GPS info, you might want to go to the closest one? Typing the city/state doesn't work very well, since it limits it to locations within that city, not vicinity... Is that the best this AVIC can do?

I've had my D2 for a week, and just wanted to solve one more question... Lets say I'm sitting in a parking lot 500 miles from home, and I realize that I need to go to the nearest Best Buy or Walmart. I can do a POI search for it, but it brings up all 400 stores within the 5 state zone that I'm in. If I don't know the area, it doesn't help me to search every small suburb that I don't know anyways, I just want to find the 1st closest, 2nd closest, etc. I've looked into the vicinity search, but the best I can find for this example is "shopping", which brings up every crappy little store, eve

Thank you. That was what I was wondering. So, with my D2- If I don't have an Ipod, always leave the screen flat anyways, don't want a front aux input, don't want Directtv, and love the two drives- Are there any functional reasons, other than playing DVDvideo on the screen why if I came into some extra cash, I should get a D3? I'm loving my D2 with XM!

So, I recently bought a D2, and from what I've read, its the same as the D1, except for the XMTraffic option. The D3 obviously has the DVD video playing option... What other upgrades and improvements did they put throughout the D1/D2/D3? I did a search and went through several pages of posts, but didn't see anything that specifically addresses this one... Did the D2 mod, THANKS TO AVIC411!!! I was lurking and reading on this site for a couple days, waiting for my D2 to arrive, (2002 CR-V) and didn't know how complicated the engineers were going to make the mod. The green wire for the parking brake is extra long, made that super easy to splice into the ground. And I used the reverse sensor to fit into the open pin slot, super easy. Grounded that right next to the green wire. Added the XM GEX***, super easy, loving it! Thanks again for the hack, I can't imagine having to stop and engage a parking brake to change routes...
