Ok… So I bought a used N3 on eBay. I went with the N3 due to a better price and it seemed to be an easier unit to bypass. I had a N1 that was bypassed with the parking brake trick only. I wanted to use new software (disks) and didn’t want to get into a solder job! With a simple flick of the magic switch the unit is now bypassed. The N3 and N1 plugs / ports are all compatible with each other, no re-wire needed. Yahooo!!!! The only issue is the auto dimming feature that the N1 had doesn’t seem to work on the N3. Ok, seeing no one has answered me on this one I guess I'm going alone. I just picked up a N4 off EBay. I'll try swapping the head unit and brain using the currently installed wires and let everyone know how it went. Wish me luck!!!

Can I use the data cable (brain to head unit) from a N1 set up on a N3 or N4 install? I'm going to upgrade my system but don't want to have to re-wire the truck!

Come'on... nobody has an answer for this one!?

I’ve looked and searched the site and can’t find a definitive answer for this, so hear it goes; I have a N1 with upgraded software and no bypass mod. I don’t want to open the HU up to do the mod, so I was thinking of upgrading the HU only to either a N2 or N3 (easier bypass mod). Is it as simple as exchanging the HU only? Do all the wires, cables and harness match up? If I upgrade the “brain†as well, can I use the same harness so I don’t have to tear apart the truck again?
