  1. I had the same issue and actually spoke with one of the engineers a month or so back. He went and discussed this issue with support and QA. All their testing on a Z3 was actually a Z1 that was upgraded to a Z2 and then Z3. They never actually tested on a native Z3 HU. (At least that is what I gathered from them.) Long story short, I got the same answer and was told that the Gracenote DB for the Z3 would be out early next year. They have since updated their website to reflect this, minus the date part. I agree with jwq and the DB's are probably the same, but maybe their updater is differ
  2. Yes. I've waited upwards of 10 minutes. One time I put the CD in and started driving home. About a 40 minute drive. 10 minutes in I couldn't stand the silence.
  3. Thanks and I'm positive I don't have the update. I'm running 07-01-0030.
  4. I tried one at 10x, but not slower. I guess at this point it won't hurt.
  5. Yep. Done all that. Unzipped and even burnt the way the last post described. I have tried relaxing the settings (Unchecking the character settings, etc.) but it didn't matter. I even tried different media, a different burner and an older copy of Nero. All with the same results. Checking Disc.......CD-Rom inserted. djmixmac, do you have a native Z3 or was yours a Z1 or 2 upgraded to a Z3? I'm wondering if this is a Z3 issue or just an issue with me. If anyone has a Z3 that they have upgraded the CDDB on, and would be willing to mail me their CD, I would be very appreciative.
  6. What burning software did you use? I have Nero 7 and the update does the same thing as the last time I attempted the update. I put the CD in, my Z3 sees it and reports 'Checking Disc." After about 5-10 seconds it says CD Rom inserted and does nothing. I let it sit for about 5 minutes or more and still nothing. If I change the tuner to XM, Library or FM I cannot get back to CD. The DVD choice is darkened out. As for the format I chose to burn it with, Mode 1 & ISO 9660 + Joliet. Am I missing something? Anyone want to mail me their CD that worked?
  7. Very nice. Wish I had known about this about a month ago.
  8. No need to apologize. Having questions up front is better than during the installation. I am assuming you are or have purchased a wiring harness kit. The harness for the subs has 4 wires coming off of it. Depending on the kit, two are blue with a white strip and the other two are actually red and white RCA jacks. Don't think of these as left and right. You will want to solder some leads off of the regulator so you easily work with it. The two blue/white wires connect to one side of the regulator, the middle post on the regulator is ground, which gets grounded. The other side of the reg
  9. I put the Avic Z3 into my 07 Mustang with a Shaker 1000 sub woofer. You will want to pick up a $2 part at radio shack otherwise you will have an annoying pop in your subs every time you power up the head unit. The subs in a Mustang only need 5V to power up. The Avic's send out 12V to the relay's that turn on the amps. The part you want is a 5V fixed voltage regulator. Radio Shack catalog number 276-1770. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... 2062599&cp The only other modification is the headlamp dimmer wire. The factory harness does not supply this. You will want to run a wi
  10. You can try Metra. http://www.metraonline.com/.
  11. Rather than run through the firewall, you can pull your headlamp switch out and then using an Ohm meter, see which wire has power when the running lights turn on and tap off of that one. I have an 07 Mustang and the wire I tapped into was an orangish/tanish wire with a white stripe. Not saying the harnesses are the same, but Ford could use a similar color pattern between vehicles.
  12. I too burnt a few CD's and then I called support on this issue and spoke with one of the Z3 engineers, or what ever Z3 support department he was from. Per him, the Z3 already has the latest CD DB loaded. I questioned why the DB update was released as a March update and my Z3 has a Jan build date with a Feb DB date. The tech said to look at the copyright date when your unit starts up. I think he was saying this was the DB month/year, but he didn't say specifically. He also told me that the update on the site is only for the Z1/Z2 models and to be notified of updates to the Z3, to register
