I'm experiencing a similar issue and want to confirm that you used the Z2 freeze fix and not the Z3 Gracenote update. Did you ever upgrade back to a Z3?
In my case, I installed a new drive with a Z3 image over a year ago. I had no problems until a couple weeks ago when both the screen and hard buttons would occassionally stop working. Now they are totally dead, except the hard volume and eject buttons.
I removed the screen, did a thorough cleaning of it and the frame, and double-checked all the ribbon connections. I re-installed and it's still dead. I also swapped the Z3 drive w
