  1. Nice advice there "bro"...how about a solution rather than a stupid ass comment. This is supposed to be a helpful forum genuis. I suspect this isn't the first time you got grilled for this kind of posting.
  2. Same thing with my bypass as Alky181. I did exactly what the Youytube video showed. As soon as I start driving, the ADDRESS touch command goes gray. All is fine when stopped and in gear with P-brake off. However, I do get the message about the P-brake being disconnected. My unit was already installed by a shop that said they were liable if they did the mod, so I had to do it. The P-brake (light green) wire was already connnected up. I just cut the wire and connected like the vid and left the end running to the P-brake connected.I am thinking that I need to connect that cut lead as well to
  3. Well, I wish you'd responded sooner. I bought one elsewhere. Thanks.
  4. Surprisingly, no one has responded. Kind of dumbfounded here. Hopefully someone will do it...I know I would if I could! Keith
  5. Can anyone out there burn me a copy of the West Coast Map (USA) disk for an AVIC-D2? My burner is not working and I just don't have the time to deal with it right now. I will gladly cover your costs plus shipping. You can respond here or just PM me. Thank you! Keith
  6. Ya know, I called Pioneer to tell them about this and they want $200 regardless of the issue to fix any unit. I just sent them this thing last June with $200 for another issue I had with the unit. This is completely unfair and a consumer ripoff as far as I am concerned. So much for Pioneer standing behind their products. Anyone have a similar experience? It's a freakin backlight...how does that constitute a $200 fee?
  7. Thank you for the info. I would certainly prefer to fix it myself, but I do not have any manuals. I was hoping someone on here would jump on and give me some instructions. I will look to see if there is a local company since I am clear across the US from those guys. Let's see what happens.
  8. Weird...fired up the car the other day expecting to see the Pioneer start up screen and nothing. All the hard buttons work and I even hunted around the screen with my finger and the touch screen buttons seem to work. I hit RESET and that didn't do anything. I have a dark screen. Is this common? Is it something I can fix myself? I'd sure hate to send it to Pioneer service along with a $200 check for something easily fixed. Thanks in advance! Keith
  9. No smoking. I have only had the unit installed for about a year. I called Pioneer and they said to send the unit to them with a $200 money order and they will fix it. That is their flat fee. I tried to find a local place, but no one deals with these things anymore, they say they all just send them back to the manufacturer. I am going to try some compressed air today. If that doesn't work, I will remove the unit and think about taking it apart. I figure if I screw up, I can still just send it to Pioneer with my $200 and get it back working in a week. Sounds like I am probably the on
  10. I tried the reset and it still does not work. Suggestions?
  11. I tried the reset and it still does not work. Suggestions?
  12. Yea, no need to ever take the disc out. I can hear it clicking/searching when the DVD is in, then the screen comes up with the error message and there is no more "searching" for the disc info by the D2. Haven't tried the reset, but not sure if that would actually affect the reading of the DVD ROM. I guess it couldn't hurt. Hopefully someone else who has been down this road will have a suggestion.
  13. The D2 read the disk fine for several months. BTW, I know which slot needs to be used as this is a DVD ROM. The unit will now sometimes intermittently read the DVD and the Nav will work fine. Most of the time now though, it still cannot read the disk. I even tried the other region disks and the same thing happens. I plugged the DVD into my PC and it brought up all the loaded files, so I know the DVD is good. Besides, I don't know how these things would get worn since nothing touches the surface, it's all read by a beam. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong with my D2 that it
  14. I thought this was a cleaning issue, but I ran the DVD cleaning disk several times and I still get "PLEASE INSERT APPROPRIATE DISK" Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? Is this a cleaning issue that needs compressed air or could it be an alignment issue..or....??? Obviously the Nav is useless right now. Thanks in advance for your help!
  15. Yea, I saw that. I have a CD-IB100II installed as well, but that thing is absolutely worthless to be honest. More hassle than it's worth. I was thinking of removing that and since I already have a cable running back to the AVIC D2 from the CD-IB100II, could I just use that cable and swap the plugs around? Is it the same cable for the data cable?
