i have tried it both ways and still no click. Is it possible that i messed the metal clip up?

I just got my Avic, and did the bypass as stated in the stickies. I am having trouble putting the mute wire into its new slot. I am unable to get it to *click* and the bypass isn't working. Can someone please help.
