  1. No, I don't have a diesel, I just turn the key to on, put my seatbelt on, then start the car. I never really noticed it before, I guess I just do it that way out of habit. I was told to buy a Kenwood dnx9960 before this, but I like the Pioneer interface for the ipod and such so much I figured I'd give Pioneer another shot. The avic-f series was a disaster, as my f90bt shows as well as my friend's which failed as well (in weekend cars, no less.) I'll give it another weekend or so, as much as I hate to do it if I see anything else disconcerting about this hu I'm just going to take advantage of the 30 day return policy I got and be done with this.

  2. So I got a z120bt installed in my car a couple days ago. I previously had a f90bt, it took a dump and is out for warranty service. In the meantime I bought a z120bt to upgrade as I'm over the drama with the f90bt. Previously did not have this problem at all with the f90bt, so this is hu related.

I have a 5 channel amp running my fronts, rears, and sub.

I've noticed sometimes when I turn the key to on, the hu will start. A couple seconds later I start the car, so the hu restarts it's startup sequence. When the audio starts, sometimes I'll have no sub audio. Or no audio at all. Or no rear and no sub. Once I realize this, I'll turn the key off for a couple seconds and back on. The deck fires up and everything is fine, all audio works correctly.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does the hu just trip out because it hasn't finished it's boot and that's why it will randomly not have any or all audio?

I love the deck and pioneer's iPod interface, but if it's going to be more pioneer drama, I'm just going to return this thing and get a kenwood instead, I feel like the pioneer issues are getting ridiculous.

  3. so after over a year, my f90bt is all of a sudden being super bad. :(

it's run this whole time, no problems. it's upgraded to 3.0 or 3.1 (can't remember which) i drove the car last week and it was acting fine. when i started the car to put it in the garage, the unit never booted, and hasn't since. now the menu & map buttons light up, the unit sounds like it's starting up. the screen never displays anything, and after 20 seconds it shuts off. it doesn't reboot, just stays off.

tonight i made a testmode sd card, and i can get it into testmode. so now i'm even more confused. i'm assuming something in the os is maybe corrupt and won't boot the system? i'm not sure where to start, but if i could diagnose and fix it that would be great as i don't really want to wait 6-8 weeks for pioneer to fix it if i can help it.

has anyone else had this problem?

  4. so i updated my f90bt using the one sd card, with the 2 winCE files, testmode folder and my flash disk folder overwrite method. originally it kept failing the process at canada.poi so i erased that file (i'm in the u.s. anyway) on the sd card and tried again. it finally went through. now everything boots fine, no drama works great. i noticed the bluetooth wasn't connecting to my already previously paired iPhone 3gs, the bluetooth light wasn't coming on either. i tried to check it in the menu and no go. so i unpaired them and tried to start over, now the f90 says "searching" forever and my phone in discoverable mode, but no bluetooth light and no pairing. has anyone else had this problem yet? i was meaning to update to 3.01, but want to sort this out first before i bury myself.

i love the snappier touch respone and all the other benefits, thanks to you geniuses who make this stuff work  i just want to fix my bluetooth :)

    thanks guys

  5. The update was really a big improvement. I had a Kenwood DNX5120 that I replaced with my F90BT. The Kenwood was nice but for me I like the features of the Pioneer better.

that's good to hear because i know people were talking about getting rid of their avic f's and going to kenwoods, so i'm glad to hear you're happy :)

i'm glad to hear the problemns seem to be sorted because i relly want one of these units but i really didn't want to pay the money and then end up with something i'm not happy with :(

  6. i've been watching this board for the last few months and the problems people have been having with these units (slow boot time, etc.) for awhile it seemed like the general consensus was that for the cost vs. problems it just wasn't worth it. now from what i read it sounds like 2.0 is making them work a lot better, and i'm just wondering from the folks that have them w/ 2.0, do you feel it's worth it now? if it is finally as good as it sounds with the new update then i think i'll take the dive and pick one up for my car :)

    feedback?
