I am working on a blog write up of my install with a Zune and D3. It's basically the same as the youtube video posted but I added a PAC IR extender so I can hide the dock and Zune in my console and control from the remote. Pretty sweet

Please don't go buy gold plated cables for your laptop

It's not the resolution. You need to set the laptop up that so that it recognizes the d3 as the primary monitor and it doesn't default to the laptop screen. It is not a simple plug and play operation

If you update your video drivers on the laptop they should include a more detailed control center in the display options. There you can set video play back options on a second monitor which is how the D3 would be setup. The lower resolution of the d3 shouldn't be an issue
