Wow, that is so weird. i had actuly never even see or herd of thoes untill today, when i say a girl using one of thoes as i was walking out of physical therapy today. i was gonna try to find out what it was, and bam, your talkin about it.....weird o.o anyway, im not sure how that would help tho. getting the computer/laptop was never the issue, it was the tethering the iphone and settign up the ad-hoc network that i need help with.

to be honest, this isnt really about practicality, just wana say that ive done/can do it, that and im bored XD lol. also, i thought you couldnt use an external HD

my ultimate goal is to have the laptop installed somewhere in the car, out of the way that i can plug my Iphone into and broadcast a hot sopt in and around my car. I want to be able to acess all of my files on my PC through my PS3, through my PSP and then through the D3. then i wouldnt need to worry about using a hard drive or having to bother with buying another ipod. "Why do you need the iphone or PSP when the laptop computer has an internet connection and a web browser? first off, im pretty sure that this is pushing the limit on related topics for this form, BUT! it does involve a D3 so i hope its cool. I have a grand master plan, and i need tech advice. i dont really know of any good tech fourms, and yall seem pretty smart, so here i am once more. Right now, i have my computer linked up to my PS3 and 360 to my computer via a wierless conection, so i can access it from there. and with a PSP, i can access my PS3 from anywhere in the world that has a wierless net connection, and therefore access my computer through that. AND ive seen that you can link a PS

Dam. i was afraid of that. so, what do you think im looking at? do i need a major modifaction to alter the size of my center dash? or is there some way that this is just gona pop out and be able to slide a new one in?

Alrighty, i have another question. ahhh, well how do you know if its a 5th gen ipod, because i have a friend with an old 80 gig ipod video that dosent hold a charge anymore, might beable to get him to just give it to me. will hooking it up to the D3 charge the ipod? cus if so, then we might be in business

Ah, i see. well, on second thought, if i had a HD i really wouldnt need to use the dvd player for much. but, now there are more questions. insted of having to buy an 160 gig ipod for 400 bucks, i can get a 1TB external for like 300ish. can you hook up a HD with movies and music on it and run through it like the ipod? Could you hook a laptop up to the D3? Can you hook up things like PSPs and or thoes tiny PS2 or maybe even a 360? and, if the D3 cant do this, do yall know for a Nav system that can?

Whats up yall new user, first time poster. ive already searched the fourm for a related threads and found a few similar topics, but they didnt answer my question. can you hook up an external HD to a D3 and store your map information on it so you dont need to use the DVDs? personaly i would love to be able to install a nice 250gig HD to store a bunch of music and movies and run the maps off of it. can any of this be done?
