  1. - bootup time

    - slow menus and button responses

    - bluetooth - hangs for 50 seconds after most calls

    - the reverse camera takes 10 seconds to come on after starting the car

    - ipod VR mode sucks - I have to go through the menu to turn it on and off again. Good lord how hard is it to add a small icon in the corner of the ipod source interface that would initiate this process without having to go through crap load of menus?!?!

    - when I am in the settings and I press the upper left corner, it takes me to the source selection rather than the actual source

    - the fader/balancer is slowwww

    - the EQ settings customization is slowwwwwwww

    - selection of songs in SD, the selection of XM radio channels, the selection of artists or genres via ipod are all painfully slow

    - I cant actually SEE what song is currently on when in ipod/SD/XM mode and in song/preset selection mode. This has got to be the stupidest UI decision EVER. Why should I have to toggle back and forth between modes just to see who is playing, and use the preset mode?

    - trying to initiate a phone call within 30 seconds of bootup - currently my system "reboots", then takes 2 minutes to finish booting, and ends up putting me in the phone call menu. Just press the button after 10 seconds, or 15 seconds, and it freaks out.

    - takes 2 minutes to connect to the phone

    - turn the car off while on a phone call, takes who knows how long for the phone to kick over to handset mode. My wife's OEM system takes 2 seconds, if that.

    - When you reach your fucking destination, the damn thing wont end the route automatically! After it says your destination has been reached it needs to STFU.

    - It randomly decides to automatically set the route to home, for no reason whatsoever when you turn it on! This may be hard to test since it does it only once a month or so. You know it has happened if you turn it on and before the screen pops up it tells you to take your next left.

    - The ipod randomly connects when you turn it on. I get about a 60% connect rate despite a brand new cable, and perfectly good ipod touch. Restarting the car is the fix for this. Well after driving for 30 seconds and realizing it didnt connect.

    - OH! If the voice recognition does not understand you, it say "WHATWASIT?" That drives me nuts

    - Samantha in general just sucks.

    - the bluetooth randomly sets call volume. Sometimes a call is blaringly loud, sometimes I cant hear the caller at all, and sometimes the frigging controls for volume don't even show up!! Sometimes the music continues in the background (at full volume) and sometimes not.

These are just the ones off the top of my head

Yes, your list is a bit short but right on. How about the following:

    - unit switches to NAV when a call is placed or received

    - bluetooth sometimes takes 30-45 seconds to disconnect fromthe phone after a call

    - iphones dont work for shit even though they were released a year prior to the AVIC

    - GPS goes ape shit when an iPhone is connected. Nothing like "GPS signal lost" as you drive down the freeway!

    - contacts suck as and are way too limited for people with 250+ contacts

    - bluethooth can't switch between different phones unless you manual disable one of the two phones first

    - bluetooth volume is crap as is sound quality. People on the other end of a call say it sounds like i'm in a fish bowl

    - why can't a brand new unit get more than two lines of data from XM/Sirius/FM? Its an absolute joke that this unit is more handicaped than an OEM unit from Toyotoa

my list can go on and have a feeling I will sell my unit once my $60.00 upgrade (word used lightly right now) arrives and is installed. Too bad because this unit had so much hype and no punch.

  2. You want another one? How about this: When a phone call comes in, the audio source is just muted (not paused), and control is locked to phone only. If you're listening to a recorded source (worst case, an audiobook) there is NO WAY to keep it from continuing to play silently for the duration of the call. A 20 or 30 minute call and you have to rewind carefully while driving to figure out where you might have been multiple pages before. Ridiculous that this hasn't been fixed after two complete firmward updates (I'm including 3.0 as first reports that it's still untouched).

    That's not a bug.

Oh, excuse me. Technically, you're correct. It's working as designed. It's just a PISS POOR DESIGN.

It's a FLAW. Get over yourself and your unnecessary technical squabbling.

my iPhone pauses the audio when linked via Bluetooth but does not when another phone is linked and the iPhone is connected so it pretty much is poor design.

  3.

Now quit wasting our time. If people would actually read things and search things out at there would be much more useless crap on this site. Yes we can just ignore it but for those that have actually took time to read it is pretty frustrating. Crap like this drives the good people away.

Actually posts like this is why good people go away....

  4. Being a day one purchaser, this update brings the unit to what my original expectations were. The overall usability is improved and it is very nice to have the contacts transfer without major issues.

GPS - MUCH better without the blue boxes

Bluetooth - seems worse on my iPhone 3g as people are having a much harder time hearing me. I wish they would fix it so the unit changes to GPS mode while on the phone and make the box transparent so you can see the entire GPS screen (i hate how it covers the ETA so you can't tell the person on the phone when you will be there).

Unit itself - MUCH better boot times, button response, etc.

Things I would like to see on future updates:

    1. Improve the ipod screen so it isn't so plan (very old looking for such a new unit.

    2. Fix the Sirus interface so you can get all the data and doesn't look so freaking old

    3. Get real traffic updates. 9.5 times out of 10 the traffic information is incorrect. I normally have to use google maps on my iphone to get real traffic data

    4. Better over the air radio interface, dress it up already and give me song information like any newer radio can handle.

Again, this brings the unit to what I had expected from the unit on day one. Hopefully this isn't the last update we get as there is much more work to do to make this the best unit on the market.

  5. I honestly would say no as the traffic is never correct. I typically look at Google Maps on my iPhone to see the real traffic conditions.

Case in point, 9.5 times out of 10 I can be sitting in bumper to bumper traffic and the AVIC will show all green on the freeway where google maps shows red.

  6. A few more things since I have had some good time to work with the unit.

    1. While watching a movie on the SD the system will switch to NAV during an incoming telephone call.

    2. Bluetooth doesn't mute the audio when a telephone call is established about 25 percent of the time.

    3. Ipod is constantly failing on the VR Catalog. Disconnecting works maybe half the time.

Update 1.0 was good, just need to finish the product! Since I have been messing with DIVX files and such this week it is clear the head unit does not have the horsepower to switch between very many things. Sometimes it takes a few minutes unit I can switch back to the SD once it switches to NAV (from an incoming phone call).

  7. Still Broken

    1. GPS switches from 3D to 2D while in route.

    2. GPS loses location and goes into constant "recalculating route" until the map button is pressed

    3. Can't remove the horrible gas station PIO's

    4. 2D map is unusable (always North)

    5. Still lose iPod connectivity through out the day for no reason

    6. Sirius forgets to scroll (needs a complete re-write of this interface IMHO)

    7. GPS, while in route, constantly is giving directions. For example you are two miles from an offramp. You get the 2 mile warning, 1 mile warning, 400 yard warning, take exit, stay right, stay right. Makes it impossible to listen to a song or the radio.

    FIXED

    1. BLUE TOOTH IS USABLE! HUGE IMPROVEMENT

    2. Blue tooth works!

Not going to be fixed so we just need to drop it

    1. Boot time - we just need to deal with the hardware choices made by Pioneer

  8. Bluetooth is almost unuseable at this point as all I get are complaints or static or tons of backround noise.

My cheap Jabra bluetooth works better with me driving down the freeway at 80 with the windows down than the F90 at a stop with the windows up.

    Blackberry 8830 is the phone.

  9. Here is my 2cents after two full days with the unit.

    Bluetooth

    1. Blackberry 8830 connects maybe 50 percent of the time when the unit is turned on.

    2. Won't transfer address book for some reason.

    3. Sound quality is terrible. I have tried the mic on the steering column and the visor and it doesn't make much difference.

    4. Four times today the audio didn't mute when a call was placed. I could hear the music from the ipod and the phone ringing on the other end.

    5. I got the unit to transfer some of the contacts but they were gone once the unit was shut down and restarted (after a trip for lunch).

    Sirius

    1. Unable to get audio to work. I have redone the installation twice now hoping something was wrong with no sucess.

    2. The single line SUCKS and should not be acceptable for a 1200.00 unit

    ipod

    1. On numberous occasions the unit would just stop talking to the ipod and not respond. once it caused a reboot of the tuner.

    2. The splash screen for when the VC is done stays on the screen FAR TOO LONG

    GPS

    1. Routed me a funky way today that was neither faster of a shorter route.

    2. Several times it lost the location I was traveling to while switching between the FM tuner and ipod. Not sure about this one.

    3. Numerous times today the unit switched from 3D to 2D without any interaction.

    4. It appears the GPS has a hard time while on the freeway as it constantly re-routed itself when going around a bend. The GPS would jump from the freeway to a side road running along side the highway. I have never had this problem with any GPS solution.

    General Usage

    1. I want to be able to change the color of the backround!!!!

    2. Boot time with an ipod connect is rediculous

    3. Boot time with no ipod is 10-15 second before audio is working

    4. Unit has rebooted four times in the past two days for no reason. Interesting enough it did it once today as the car was being turned off and contued the reboot even after the ACC was off.

  10. I double checked and the bus cable has the blue end going to the blue plug, etc. I can disconnect the sirius tuner and it shows disconnected on the unit but just can't get the stupid thing to play sound.

Now an interesting thing, in reading the bus interface and tuner paperwork, they do not have the F90BT listed. I have changed the AV1 from Ipod to EXT with no luck other than I lose my Ipod sound....~!

  11. I just installed a Sirius Bus Interface and universal tuner but can not hear any audio from the unit. The tuner is activated already and I am able to see channels and such, just no sound.

It should be as easy as connecting the tuner to the bus interface and the bus interface to the tuner right?

    I'm stumped.
