1. AFAIK its the head units that are all the same and are interchangeable. Having the n3 head unit will not give you the added functionality present in the n3. Plus, without the switch on the N3 brain, you'll be unable to do the bypass.
2.
I thought the N2 functions were disabled via the motion sensors and bridging the points was the only way to defeat this. When I only grounded my brake wire everything would work up to 5-10 MPH then stop. After I bridged the points it all worked fine. Maybe mine was different. Good luck and have fun.
Thats what I thought as well, which is why this is confusing me. Hes saying that the difference is activating the ground with a switch after the unit is already powered on. It'd be great if thats true, because you can get the n2 cheaper then either the n1 o
3. Yes it does. No not the album covers, thats my mistake, but it allows you to have more control of the ipod with the touchscreen on the N3. Go look on pioneer's site if you want. And yeah I didn't think color made a difference to anybody... And even if the ib100II has a lower MSRP, I was referring to the fact that you can buy the IB100 from ebay or something for cheaper then an IB100II Edit: http://www.pioneerelectronics.co
4.
Ground the parking brake through a switch. Flip it after the unit boots. It will work at any speed..
Great thanks. Makes me wonder though why I don't see anybody else talking about this, and I don't just mean here, but on other forums as well. And it makes no difference if the unit is upgraded with the n3 CDs? Do you actually work at circuit city doing this shit?
5. You'd have to use the basic controls, yeah. If you look on ebay you can find auctions that detail how to set it up so that you can use the actual ipod controls instead of the ones on the unit. Thats probably the best thing you can do.
6.
DOES ANYONE HAVE PICS OF THIS PROCESS....I DONT WANNA HAVE A USELESS NAV UNIT....IF NOT, ANY INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED
7. Yes it will work with the N1. And the difference between the IB100 and IB100II is that if you have the N3, the IB100II will have added features like displaying the album cover. If you have an N1 though, it will make no difference, so go for the IB100 cause you'll probably get it for cheaper.
8.
If you solder the two dots together on the bottom of the unit, you will get full function of the nav & video while driving. I don't think you have to ground the parking brake lead, I believe the solder spot overrides that, if I remember correctly. You may have to reset the unit afterwards to get rid of the handbrake warning.
Well the whole point is that I want to do it without soldering. I don't want video functionality, I don't care. All I want is the full nav functions, so will those work if I hook up a switch to the parking brake lead and then flip it on
9. Oh I don't care at all about watching movies. As long as I am able to change the destination or whatever while I'm driving. This works for any speed? And you're absolutely sure it works on the n2 without doing the bypass on the circuit on the back of the unit?
10. Okay I just need something confirmed for me. I'm planning to buy one of the AVIC nav systems. It seems that I can get the best price on an N2 unit, but I want to be able to adjust the nav while driving. My friend has an N1 and he was just able to ground the wire attached to the parking brake and bam it worked. There seems to be some ambiguity on what can and cannot be accomplished with the brake line bypass on the N2, so let me ask this. Is it true that, without soldering the connection points on the back of the unit, if I attach a switch to the parking brake wire that lets me g
11. Lets assume that I have an AVIC-n2. Assume also that I have the CD-IB100II. With the N2 I don't get the special features of the IB100II, but if I upgrade the software to the n3 level, do I get the IB100II features?
