  1. NCHornet, No, I've not noticed that. Do you live in a newly developed neighborhood perhaps? I've always thought that the system had some form of artificial inteligence that figured out what voice-overs to apply by analyzing the route. Maybe that's not the case. Perhaps the map itself is a background image, but the data from the voice-over is derived from gps information and vectors. It is likely not using any sort of image processing to figure out the turn-by-turn instructions. Remember, the system can determine your route even when the vast majority of your route isn't displayed on the
  2. Is this repeatable? I don't have an Iphone, but I will try it on my Android and see if this is the case on my setup as well. If it is, then we've found ourselves a bug.
  3. I'm still not clear as to why it is necessary to click through the Navigation warning when going to the Home screen. Please, gents, I don't want this thread to turn into a battle amongst ourselves. That is most certainly not my intent. If my language reads confrontational, please imagine it as being directed at the programmers, and not you. I'll try to keep my tone a bit more civil, but my frustration with this is going to continue. By design or not, this is still a stupid way to program the unit. I should only be forced to read the nanny screen when going to the Navi screen,
  4. Holding down Home does absolutely nothing on my unit. I'm not bypassed (yet). And having a D3 unit for many years, I can assure you that I never had to press the Navi warning until I actually went to the Navi screen.
  5. Which, since it makes absolutely no f'ing sense whatsoever, is a BUG. Doesn't matter to me if it's been copy/pasted for the entire Z series. It's still a bug, and I'm going to pursue it as such.
  6. It sounds to me like you have a defective unit. No one else is having this issue that I am aware of. At least, you're the only person reporting it, right? What I'm hoping to achieve from this thread is a list of software bugs that pertain to how the system operates. Installation issues or possible defective units are probably best left off of the bug list I think. Still, I hope your situation gets promptly sorted out by Pioneer.
  7. No, I get into my car. Ipod screen comes up and plays. Anytime thereafter, if I press Home, the stupid navigation legal BS pops up instead of taking me where pressing the f'ing HOME button should take me. I could go for days without ever hitting the Navi screen and the god damned warning pops up when pressing Home. Its infuriating.
  8. I received word from Pioneer that my concerns (1 and 2 on the list) have been forwarded on to product planning. If my concerns are addressed, perhaps there's hope that Pioneer will actually listen to their customers for other bugs and "features" we discover with the Z140BH.
  9. Since I know my way around my own town, I seldom ever use the Navi screen. Thus, it's never on when I shut the car down.
  10. I received a reply to my online inquiry from Pioneer regarding items 1 and 2 on the list. I'm anticipating a reply this week. Keep your collective fingers crossed. Perhaps my sweet talking will work where other attempts have failed.
  11. I think we'll need to have a good idea of if the problems are installation related, or actual bugs with the unit. Does RDS data show up on other radios in your area? (Dumb question perhaps). How strong is the signal? Ipod: I nave a Nano, and no problems. What Ipod are you connecting?
  12. Thanks for your valuable help VBLUE42. I hope you don't get the impression I'm taking it out on you. My beef is with the knucklehead that wrote the code. I'm researching the bypass right now.
  13. Owners manual, page 189, Turning off the Screen. It makes no mention whatsoever that the hand brake must be activated. I read the manual cover to cover before purchasing. This bug alone would have made me choose the Kenwood.
  14. Well.... Perhaps I should just return it and get a Kenwood then. Jeebus. Such stupid decisions by Pioneer. I can live with a few "features", but when I have to deal with them on a regular basis, it can be very frustrating. I can do a ebrake bypass just to cure one of their poor decisions. I want to turn the screen off when on a long night drive. I believe I will call Pioneer. They should have one more frustrated customer to deal with. Perhaps it will be enough for them to do what's right and listend to their customers. The reason I sound pissed off, is, well, I am. I b
