First off what kind of vehicle do you have. Secondly what kind of antenna does your car have is it stationary, powered, built into the glass of the rear window. The grounding of the the vehicle makes no sense. Did you actually see the installer attach an external antenna to the rear of the radio or did he just tell you he did. The probability of have two radios in a row with a faulty fm tuner is pretty slim.
