nope, just turned on BT, the Avic D3 found my phone, entered the password on the Avic, and it worked.

turns out pink/green is the illumination wire and pink/black is the dimmer wire, we installed it on the dimmer wire so that in addition to the day/night mode switch (at the correct factory voltage on the D3 which we couldn't figure out how to reverse in the settings..), which is way cooler than other models, slowly fading out then switching to the night mode - but my dimmer control now controls the D3 along with the rest of the dash - very nice. Just to be 100% clear, on mine when it is 'OFF', the screen I selected as the main background still shows, it does not turn the 'screen' of per say, just the audio source. This is normal behaviour and can indeed be changed in the settings. In the screen shot below it indicates 'iPod' however I get the same screen when the unit is 'off'. Nothing is wrong.

oh I see now sorry yes it's off, but it's still displaying the default pioneer screen saver - check your system menus. I believe that's an option, but I'm not around a deck at present to check.

that's a default pioneer screen that is supposed to look like brushed metal... no worries (you can configure these in the system menus). Did you try pressing anywhere to turn the screen saver off?

I have the exact same setup and it all works perfectly, I'd check my settings and the BTB200 bus connections to be sure. It might very well be your phone - any ussues with call waiting when using it old school?

just press the screen, you must have pressed 'hide' while in AV mode. It's a screen saver and also helps reduce night glare. press anywhere on the screen to get your menus back.

Created a few of these if anyone is interested let me know, the one shown looks amazing if your vehicle has wood trim. I also did for a buddy's BMW and Honda, if you have a different make it's no sweat to create them. Just use a CDRW and burn them to a /pictures directory for the D-3.

Hi All, I have a 2003 QX4, basically a Pathfinder. My installer wont hook up the dimmer because he says even though my vehicle has a dimmer wire, it's a neg. wire vs a pos. wire issue, some manufacturers have negative voltages and some have positives for their illumination wires, and the QX4 isn't a match for the D-3. My questions are basically - WTF? Is this a harness issue, did they use the wrong wiring harness for my vehicle? Is the +/- voltage true, and is that why I'm reading about Best Buy etc blowing people's electrical systems when they hook up the illum. wire? Does anyone k
