I got my XM unit Friday, having major issues. I want(ed) to post this in the XM forum, but I need a response soon and there is so little traffic there I'd prefer not to wait a long long time for a response. Thank you!!! AVIC-Z1 GEX-P10XMT Power off everything. Disconnect your antenna from the GEX-P10XMT. Power on. Under "Information" "XM Status" does your GEX-P10XMT show a Radio ID? Sure you're signal will be non-existant but does the ID show up? I ask this because I noticed my antenna is cut, so I know I wont get signal, but I get no Radio ID either. Maybe my unit is bad,

<SOLVED> Defective XM unit?
Agro replied to Agro's topic in XM/Sirius/HD Radio and Traffic Receivers
Well when I was removing it I noticed that the shieth for the wire on the antenna was torn a little. The internal wire was fine though. Okay let's just think about this a second... IF the antenna signal is bad, will you not receive a Radio ID in the "Information" menu? If this is the case, the antenna issue may just be the cause. But IF you should receive a Radio ID no matter if the antenna is hooked-up, not hooked-up, signals bad, etc. Then this does not apply. Pioneer support better shed some light on this in the AM. AND if I screwed my antenna, can I buy another? I reall -

My Take on the AVIC-Z1 DEFECTIVE Bluetooth
Agro replied to DataAve's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
I wonder if you can use a better mic? maybe a noise canceling mic? I think Pioneer knows about this and have to be working on a resolution. It may take time and may end up being a totally new bluetooth unit, but it may also be a software update. time will tell. until then we wait.... -

<SOLVED> Defective XM unit?
Agro replied to Agro's topic in XM/Sirius/HD Radio and Traffic Receivers
I think my unit is defective. I checked continuity on the XM Data wire, ALL pins good I used a diff IPBus cable that is verified good I checked the ground and 12V to the XM, GOOD I opened the XM to look to see if anything was burned all looks good. I reset it Still it shows up in my list of devices (not dark blue, its selectable) but no signal and when I go to my System Info screen there is no Radio ID. Calling Pioneer tomorrow I guess -
<SOLVED> Defective XM unit?
Agro replied to Agro's topic in XM/Sirius/HD Radio and Traffic Receivers
I get nothing from XM What I meant was that I can still listen and control my iPod and the iPod passes through the XM unit via the IPBus cable. HELP! Anyone? -
Installed yesterday, it worked. Today, no ID even displayed in the XM Info screen IPBus from Z1 goes to XM, from XM to iPod. I hear my iPod fine So the IPBus from Z1 -> XM must be good since iPod works fine. Thats how the chains flowing. I'm guessing no problems with the data cable, but I can't verify that. If I disconnect power to the XM, I can't hear my iPod anymore, so that power must be good. I'm guessing the ground is good too, it prob wants/needs both. I reset the XM Still no Radio ID. Thoughts?

Well my Z1 is new. August manufacture. It MAY say on the left/right sometimes...? But I know sometimes it says "You're destination is ahead." Oh well.
-
Z1 says ... "You're destination is ahead." (I think was the wording). How can I know if my destination is on the left or the right? Once I find a place (POI or whatnot), I dont know the address (and i have no idea how to find it out again unless i search for it again!) so when I am "there", I dont know if its on the left or right side of the street. I find myself searching all over both sides. I need to remember the address then try to find Odd/Even and see which side, but -- shouldnt the Z1 tell me.

unfortunately, my avic d-2 install didnt go too well....
Agro replied to apercele79's topic in General
I have a Z1 in my 04 A4. Awesome. Mine had the Audi Symphony II so it was single-DIN. I had to have my temp controlls sanded and slid down, then a bit of custom brackets made and a bezel built. Ugh! I'll show pics though, looks killer, works great. -
I have been out of the country now for a while but have been watching this thread. Anyone else try it? I am looking forward to flying home tomorrow and trying this out.

I bought my Z1, bluetooth, ipod, and 3yr warranty from TheCameraPros.com for $2086 shipped to my door. $1399 for the unit. Good deals. i got it like 2 days after i ordered it. all installed, great.

I am not in front of my Z1 right now so please bear with me... The installer that put it in my car did not hookup the illumination wire. When I am driving around at night it is VERY bright. What are my options? 1) find the wire and have it done right 2) be able to manually switch day/night? 3) ? I tried #2, i put the Day/Night button on my Quick list and when i press it, nothing happens. Ideas?

Possibly, or more likely your installer installed the IP bus cable the wrong way. Blue goes to Blue on the headunit, black goes to black on the iPod unit.
Would that be possible if I still see Artist, Genre, Track, Album, etc. info on my Z1? It shows 00:01, 00:02... etc. just no sound.
YEP Your right. I called Pioneer thats what they say. Taking it back to have the cable switched around

I had my Z1 + Bluetooth + iPod installed this weekend. I picked it up from the place, looked at my connection for my iPod, noticed that the rose colored plastic was still on the iPod connector. I plugged my iPod in, saw Pioneer, saw the Artist, Genre, etc. I play songs but no audio. I tried my friends Nano, same thing. Strraannggeee..... Defective unit?
