  1. I did not install this unit and I'm pretty sure that the illumination wire is not connected based on my searches here. I have an 03 Tahoe. One of my questions is simply, should I notice a brightness difference when manually switching from daytime to nighttime? I'm not seeing any change when I do this. I have not tried adjusting the brightness of each mode either assuming they may be set identical by default. Is there an explanation in the User Manual of how to adjust? I don't remember seeing it. Also is there any way to dim with the dash dimmer functionality? I'm going to be cracking my da
  2. I've downloaded from Pirate Bay twice and the sizes and md5deep sums have not matched the previous post. The downloaded rar is 6,258,105,696 bytes (AVIC D-Series Maps 80MT.rar), unrar'd files West 8,505,401,344 bytes, East 8,166,576,128 what am I missing? Thanks. this post is what I'm referring to http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=124720#124720
  3. I'm assuming that I should see a difference in the daytime/nighttime modes? Both of them look the same to me. At night, my NAV illuminates my whole face. What do I need to look for?
  4. My installer has connected the parking brake wire to the parking brake. I would like to leave this connection intact and just add a switch. I am versed in car wiring so from reading the threads, I believe I can do the following. 1. remove the mute wire and place in slot above 2. connect mute wire to ground using a tap 3. connect another tap from ground wire to side a of switch 4. connect side b of switch to tap on parking brake wire. would this work? I should then be able to leave the switch "grounded" and "unground" as needed.
