i found a name, and i can't remember it already... but the employee site was just receivers, no plans. which is dumb.
-
why do you have one without the new firmware?
-
i think i may have noticed a small difference. it seems like lately my ipod has been starting a little faster. it used to take about 1.5 min how it takes about a minute. maybe its just me.
-
nasty!!!!!
-
i'll believe it when i see it... the ipod drop out is my biggest problem... the startup i've learned to live with...
-
nevermind, trial and error.... got it.

anybody know the RGB id's for the map colors? im looking through color.ini and color 3d.ini, and i cant seem to find out which ones are the map colors... i've obviously figured out the roads, but not the "terrain" colors. any help?

Anyone know how to verify you have the VSS connected and working properly? My speedo in nav setup looks to be accurate, and I've had no problems navigating, but hard to tell if its working without some kind of "Wire is connected properly" type message.
you'd only notice in like, a tunnel. where you have no signal. so unless you have a tunnel nearby, you won't be able to tell.
-
The VSS wire is not necessary but does help the nav work more accurately. The F series units do not have the vehicle dynamics display (speedometer, accelerometer, lateral G's, etc.) like the D series does, though.
it does, but not in the same way as the D. you'd have to set the 3 boxes in the bottom left differently... one shows your current speed... maybe it works just cause i have VSS connected.

Please, can somebody either link me to, or put a quick how-to on changing the map colors to all white and all black? i've used the search to no avail. any help would be great.

here's how:
hit "search" at the top

oh, and if they have all the necessary parts, there's nothing else you should have to buy, unless you want add ons like HD radio or satellite.
-
alright man, first thing's first...
the antenna for the F900 is provided in the box, so if you bought another one, take it back.
next, it is touchscreen, and once it's fully booted up (take a look at some other threads for the boot up problems) it's a really nice unit. however, there are some other small flaws that just have to be dealt with until a new update comes out. there are some people on here who are customizing their units but unless you know your way around windows pretty well i wouldn't recommend you try it for yourself.
also, there's a bypass available to play DVDs while driving. sometimes if you ask the installer who is doing the work for you he can do it for some money on the side, or if you feel comfortable, you can do it yourself. it's relatively easy, and there's info on other threads about that too.
good luck, and don't be afraid to ask questions!!!

a lotta times you just gotta pull the ipod out and start over. just disconnect it and plug it back in. this has happened to me before in my 900. did you switch AV1 to "iPod"? that's another common mistake
-
put the pic on an SD card in a folder called "Pictures" ... pop it into the unit and tell it to import from SD
-
i would definitely imagine that you would have to put a new drive in.
think of it this way... why would pioneer go to the cost of putting a DVD drive in but disabling the DVD playback? and charging less for it? i would imagine that it is a cheaper CD drive, which then lowers the price point.
-
now this probably can't be done... but would it be at all possible, without some serious hacking, to change the black background to whatever we want? and change the colors of the buttons or something to match? or am i getting ahead of myself?
-
i have, but i didn't know what to make of it... i've heard its possible to overclock the processor... and i mentioned in a thread a while ago about possibly changing the boot sequence... like starting GPS last or something... im sure that would really help
-
yeah man, clean that shit up a little.... zip ties are pretty cheap nowadays....
-
yeah i'd say its a good price... does that have a factory amp that needs to be bypassed?
-
that's about the range... at CC we charge about 200 for P/L on double-din, another 50 or so apiece on XM/BT, and b/t 75 and 100 for steering wheel controls... so that plus taxes is about 450.
-
in the Progress... thread, there's a testmode file. that, with the MITACAP folder, boot the unit into test. put them in the root of an SD...
and from the words of HiFiSi, USE THE SEARCH BUTTON...
-
yep basically...

ok so i was driving, and entered a destination. i have NO voice. also, i noticed i have NO key beeps. the master volume and TTS volume are all the way up. what gives?
also, at some point every time i turn my 900 on, the screen flashes. say it's on the iPod screen, it will go blank for a second then return to the iPod screen.
none of this used to happen, now it's all blowing up.
