if you have the map version 2.00004 or whatever, does that signify you have the most current version of the maps??i guess what i am asking is, is there two different numbers, one for like the software that runs the maps and then another version for the actual database of maps..

so you could have the newest map software, all the bulidings and extras but still have an outdated version of the maps???or are they the same thing???

the reason i ask, i did the upgrade to 3.0.1.1 without the upgrade disks and just wondering if i might have an older map database because there are still some roads missingthat would have been updated by now...although i do now have the landmarks, buildings, etc that i didn't before the updatee..sorry if that was redundant...

i hope that someone can make sense of what i am trying to ask...

i have a f700bt with the3.0.1 upgrade..i see all of these cool mods and would love to do some on my f700 but really don't want to mess anything up..i know just enough to probably ruin my unit..i live in wesley chapel, fl..about 20 minutes outside of tampa..if anybody who has good knowledge wants to make some extra money and come help me get a couple of these mods installed, please pm me..i have a garage right off to the side of my office so it would be pretty easy..

if you have a f700bt that has been upgraded to the v.3.0.1 software should we be posting here???

if so, let me give you my thoughts on 5 days with the upgrade...

i think it is a tremendous upgrade from the f series..i could not be happier especially since i did not have to dole out 120$..how could pioneer have the audacity to ask people who paid full price for a product that everyone including themselves had so many issues to deal with???it is mind boggling...

the x700 fixes MOST of the issues that i had before..although i never had that many issues with my f..the biggest issues i had were too many warnings on when to turn, boot up speed, and if you made several bt calls in a quick row, the machine would start to mis operate sometimes..also on voice control the contact names had to be said backwords, the x series fixes this..

i love the new maps, buildings, hwy signs and sounds of the x..the hwy signs are awsome, in fl where i live, i have to travel all over the state and some junctions can be very confusing...this is a big big help...samantha still warns me WAAY TOO MUCH!!!gosh i wish you could set how much you need to be warned..4 times in a quarter mile is annoying...the buildings are sooo cool...i brought up my origional hometown of baltimore and the whole inner harbor is there..even the ravens stadium has purple seats!!!!

menus are much much more responsive..sometimes i'd hit a button and it would respnd .5 seconds later on my f. now it's spot on...i love the way the smaller screen comes up on bt calls and the look of the maps and the xm station ads..very cool!!!

ok couple questions, i have a palm pre and the bt works perfect..can i get samantha to alert and read text messages..it says i should but i don't get any alert, let alone her speaking it...

my voice control button only works if i am on ipod...if i am listning to xm or radio and i press the silver button in, nothing, but if i am listening to my ipod, it works perfectly..weird..anybod have that issue???

overall i would have given the f series a 6/10..if everthing worked properly it would have been a 9...the x series of i give a 8.5..if everything worked perfect i would give it an 11 as i think it is a bit better of a unit overall if everything worked flawless on both units...

very good job pioneer but shame on you for trying to drain more money out of people who already paid good money for a unit that could have been dubbed beta...

first off "ill die" thanks very much for responding..this site for the most part has great users who look to help people more then flame them because they don't know as much as they do..

anyway i don't know how but i just entered in a city address and hit map and the landmarks are there..stadiums, everything...very cool...i didn't see them because i hadn't driven anywhere yet that would have them and got worried when i saw my map as 2004.0...

i see all of these instructions on here and i couldn't get anything to work and all i did was the update for the x seriers to 3.0.1 on pioneer and seem to have everything working perfectly..

maybe even though i couldn't get 3.0 to boot, the update still took so when i went to do the pioneer update, all of those times i did the torrent, itchy update it recognized it..

i really have no idea but i feel like i have a brand new system and it only cost me my time messing with it..

no one has hacked the new ezrider yet, regarding your map, are you sure it's 2204? or ist 2008.04? also, check the number beside it as it would say something like (090514) which means that it is from may 14 2009,

maybe im not talking about the right thing..when i clcik on service information, it says maps 2.00400..i guess maybe that is not it..there is an option to turn 3d landmarks on..am i talking about something else as far as the version goes???

i completed the upgrade through pioneer to 3.0.1 but still have the 2004 maps..how do i upgrade to the maps with the 3d landmarks and such??i have seen post about ezrider<?>..if there is a link with instrutions that would be fine too..us f700bt...thanks...

DN01 - I tried to boot up the prioneer file (the LPUE080 file, correct?) three different times; once when the older WinCE was re-installed, and again after the new WinCE files were added back. And a third time after I put the newer 'my flash disk' back on the system. (do I need to do anything else prior to adding this update?)

Argh! What am I doing wrong? Any other suggestions out there?

all i did, and trust me my system would not boot with any card in it..it would just black out after the pioneer symbol, was go to pioneer print there directions for upgrading to the 3.0.1. x series..i downloaded and unzipped the upgrade with winzip..i then copied the lpu folder to a formatted sd card..i went to my machine which remember would not boot, i did not do any wince or anything..i just put the lpu update in the sd card slot turned my car and 20 minutes later i had 3.0.1 with version 2.0.4 maps...thats it...

good luck, i know its frustrating...remember i did nothing with the flash drive or any of those other steps..the pioneer update should fix anything you have messed up..let it do the work...

now that i have the update from pioneer 3.0.1 and the old maps 2.0.4 i think, i'm hoping someone can tell me there is a nice easy way to just update the maps...1 step would be nice, i really don't want to have to start abusing diet pills to stay awake long enough to do this tonight..thanks!!!

i went through the exact same thing..just do the update from pioneer..you will have the older maps but it is simple and takes 15 minutes..update the maps later...

i can not believe the day that i have just been through..let me start from the beginning...

Last night i went to bed very late, about 4am and i took the day off because i am literally making myself sick from sleep deprivation..well at about 8am my internal clock woke me up so i took a piss, got a glass of water and figured i'd check my fantasy baseball teams..well eversince i installed the new i.e and yahoo i have all my favorites on top of my browser which includes this site..well i made the fateful decision and clicked on it and saw that i could try to install 3.0 on my f700..what a fateful decision...

it is now 6:04 est and i have been installing, deleting, zipping, unzipping, booting, rebooting, loading, unloading, copying, pasting, screaming, crying, yelling, praying, cursing, and i believe i considered suicide by carbon monoxide poisioning 3 seperate times..i was just going to close my f'n garage with my car on and that goddamn sd card pissing me off in the godforsaken f700 and be done with it...

i have a serious problem with having to finish something i started, if people on here can do it, well i am an educated individual, i can do it too...i would not bore you or even try to explain what i did for 10 hours non-stop..suffice to say it wasn't pretty..

i can tell you what did work for me was just doing the update from pioneer and having the maps right now at 204 or whatever but my f is now an x and i absolutley love it..it works perfectly and now seems to be the unit i always hoped it would be...not to over dramatize things but i went on to you tube to find jimmy v's espy speech; never give up, don't ever give up.

somehow i deleted some files from windows that i should not have..startup.exe..cdmmee.exe and maybe others..is there anyway to get these back as they are not on the update cards...

yeah when i go into windows in test mode and go to the startup file, there is no startup.exe..the folder is empty..i probably deleted it somehow..anyway, im back words gradin to an official 2.0 to get my system up and then will do the upgrade over..thanks for the tip on the stylus..perfect now..

ok i followed your instructions and step 1 went perfectly, put in the testmode 2.3 sd card, got into testmode no prob the put in the torrent file unzipped and that went fine except for the fact that i cant get the edit button to engage becasue its so high up on my screen, i opened the torrent file to the my flash drive folder and then drug that to the taskbar where i had opened my device and then dragged it up to the other my flash drive folder..

everything copied just as it showed it should..xxxxxx to xxxxxx etc..it took 20 mins..

ok after that when i go to hold the green restart button and eject button, it says that the file restart.exe can not be found..when i reset the unit it just goes black..

i can start over from step one no problem so its not like i bricked my unit...

any ideas because when i put in my old software it does the same..i have a 700bt btw...

please help

i think everyone who owns an f series has nightmares with smantha's monotronical voice echoing in their ears to take the next right four times in a span of 1/1345th of a mile..

they say time can right all wrongs but after 4 months she still has to cackle 4 f'n times that i need to make the next godforsaken right...

if there is ever a report of a car driven by a seemingly happy man mysteriously driving off of a bridge, i would tell the csu to check the dash and see if an f series navigation unit is installed..

10 to 1 its set to tts samantha..

i was having trouble updating my f700..i followed the directions perfectly and it would start the file check on the update and say, file check error, and then list a file that couldn' be found..

after trying several sd cards and also having trouble extracting the files, i switched computers from mine which runs vista to my roomates which runs xp..i then just re-did everything exactly the same and the update downloaded and installed flawlessly..

i am not making any assumptions, that i believe is fact..i honestly have no idea why it made a difference..i am just stating exactly what happened in my case so if you are having issues and run vista, you may want to try another computer...

btw, my startup time has improved by almost 150% to full function... great for when you are at the gas station..

bbtw, when i was having issues i called pioneer to order a card only to have them tell me, the update was on back-order..lol..go to wal-mart and buy some sd cards!!!how can a file be on back order???

ok follow me here..i am not a computer wiz but did the first update very easily but have a question on this one..

ok wen i save the update to my computer..it saves into a folder named f series update...wen i clcik on that folder, there is no apparant decompression and there are 3 sub-folders..the lpu, tts and operations manuals..

do i transfer the lpu and tts file to my sd card from right here or

i can right click on the folder that says f serieis update and hit extract all..when i do thaqt, it spends several minutes decompressing and then it saves this in a new folder to which there is only one sub folder which is the lpu file..the tts ans manuals folders are not there..so do i transfer the lpu file from this folder and the tts from the other, or what..

im sorry if this is stupid but i dont want to make a mistake..

whenever i search for a poi and want to save it into my favorites, it automatically names the favorite the address of the poi instead of the name of the poi..so i have to erase the address and type in the poi's name..example, my friend works at a restaurnat called mimi's, it pops up in my poi list perfectly as mimi's cafe, i go to save it in my favorites and the name reads 345 xxxxxx hwy or whatever..not a big deal but is there a way to make it default to the name of the poi when saving..

are phone numbers connected to poi's this go round??it seems like they are not..

i have the bypass done in my car and is there a way to use the vr to start a movie or tv show on the ipod and what command would i say???

has anybody played with the speed limit warning to find what percentage you need the sensitivity to warn you at maybe 11 mph over the limit on the hwy???some people may think this is a stupid feature but if you take a lot of long trips down 75 in fl it is very easy to look down and realize your doing 25 over..at least this says hey your around 82...

lastly to use the vr on my phonebook, i have to say the last name first and the first name last, again this is not a big deal and in fact is helpful seeing i have 3 jennifer's in my contacts, 3 david's and 2 lisa's + a partridge in a pear tree i digress; is there a way besides redoing your entire phonebook to change this???

i do have the update and i didn't know that you only had to do it once...that is why i love forums like this..

now one of my only major complaints is out the window..thanks alot for the info!!!

so i have had my f700 now for about 4 days, and as i have stated, have been extremely pleased with it..i almost feel guilty because save for some minor bugs, my unit works great and is a total blast..every function works well with my only complaint being the time it takes for my ipod to update the vr each time..i do have 4800 songs so i can't complain to much...

SO...i've been getting pretty good with the voice recognition and learning how to word things, how fast and loud to say them and just finding the overall sweetspot of that part of the system..while it doesn't come close to the commercial where the guy is like "well uh maybe i feel like hearing madonna, no you know what play me some good ole rock and roll and the unit responds, no problem mr. x i will be happy to play some aerosmith for you? can i do anything else..lol i never expected that and knew there would be some growing pains but i've got it handled pretty well..

so i go to pick up a date that i just meant the other day, she gets in to my car we are driving for a bit and i ask her what her favorite song on the radio is right now to which she replied saving abel "addicted"..swoo i have that on my ipod so i hit the big chrome button, take a deep breath lol and say play the artist saving abel...it's the only saving abel song i have on my ipod so i know i'm cool...

there are a few tense moments of silence and i'm praying it doesn't say "playing the artist the wiggles" lol but right on cue she replies, addicted starts playing and the girl looks over at me and says "no fucking way"...lol!!!

i mean the 02 a4 didn't come with them so i am not sure if they can be retained..i know that i have seen kits and stuff that allow you to retain them for other models but i am not sure about the f700.

no, my ps2 and ipod are both mounted neatly in the glove box, i basically have to take the 3 plugs out of the ipod controller and plug them into the ps2..i use it very rarely but at least i still have the capablitly..

i wasn't crazy about the idea, i actually told him to just take the ps2 out originally but he did an awsome job of making it very tidy and it takes all of about 3 seconds...

that way if i want to watch a movie that i have not been able to put on my ipod, i can still watch it with my ps2..i never ever use it for gaming, except if i have a kid in the car...
