  1. Finally going to be going on vacation so I can get all caught up on the great hacking everybody has been doing. A question off topic tho...has anyone found out how to change the brown night background to black yet? When I get closer to my job that ugly brown changes to black and it looks so much nicer. The funny thing is I hate it so much I normally keep the bright day map on at night. LOL, I'm going to go blind .

  2. Come to think of it I may have took for granted that everyone has updated their firmware, as I have always did that first. My phone's carrier is verizon and there firmware is 4.3 which wouldn't let me do normal things like transfer files from the pc over bluetooth. So using this guide

http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/newest ... 6-a-60457/ and quick search for updated firmware,

I successfully updated the phone to firmware 4.5.0.77, which could also be a contributing factor on my phone now working. So give your firmware a shot also, and sorry I didn't think about that before.

  3. Upon closer inspection I'm pretty sure this isn't going to work. That function that is being called must be what applies the background image, because the bmp attribute is empty in these. Without that functionality, it won't know which image to apply.

I'm thinking we'll need to make up some images to use as the background, and call those directly in that sprite statement.

I'm still going to give it a try though, so I'll report back on what I find.

Good call, I'll keep poking around.

  4. Changing map colors is pretty simple. Go into the igo folder->content->schemes and grab one of the .zip files unzip it or explore it. (I did it by unzipping then rezipping it in OSX 10.5 just fine) Edit the files called color.ini and color3D.ini. All of the colors are in RGB values.

If you want an explanation of what some of the lines change go here http://www.navguide.net/igomiofan/color-maps/create-your-own-color-scheme/

Also when you edit the files make sure you change the name and specify if the map is day or night. The website above shows how to do this.

Ok  , been editing the color.ini and the color3d.ini but can't for the life of me figure out how to change the night back ground to black instead of brown. It seems like the only option is to change the colors of roads, highway, etc... Anyone know if I looking in the right spot?

  5. The map colours are handled in a way which I think is strange. There is no simple file listing hex colour values etc. There is instead a BMP file of colour swatches, and then there are two other files which are used to determine which swatch is used for which type of map detail/terrain. I haven't looked too deeply into that, but I came across the info while googling some other stuff. If you google for igo change map colors you will probably find the info.

Edited to add: I'm pretty sure the bmp files are data.zip/gfx/day/texture.bmp for daytime maps and data.zip/gfx/night/texture.bmp for nighttime maps. You could perhaps just edit those bmp files, change the colours to whatever you wanted, then that might do the trick.

Awesome....will give it a go, Thanks Stephanie.

  6. We can change the colors of most things in the configuration file, so it shouldn't be too hard to adjust the skin for day or night.

Cool, I'll keep looking, I hate the blurry words and the brown background. If I can change it to look black the better. :? Maybe when can even find a way to make the Arrow smaller.

On another note, if you look under Data.zip\config there is a keybind.txt, that should be able change the bindings. For example, instead pushing the button for voice command it could be a mute key if you so desire.

  7. Follwed the instructions and here the results...Thank you Stephanie and Skicrave for helping me :D

Oh Stephanie, btw, the first color for the clock is the fill and the second is the outline. i meant to have red numbers, but i actually like how this way came out.

i couldnt help but notice in one of the directories, the file for the Tahoma font is there.....is it possible to change the font as well????

CatchMeIfYouCan631, is this night mode you're using. My night mode shows brown sometimes lime green background and I hate it. How did you get yours to show black? Also the words show up blurry in my night mode, compared to the day mode.

  8. CatchMeIfYouCan631, thanks for the tip about the clock text! I see in your last picture, you have the directional arrows appearing. I didn't see those on mine... do those arrows only appear when you're in 3d mode? I use 2d exclusively, so I assumed that I'd done something wrong when the arrows didn't show up.

Edited to add: The outline colour should be something that can be added. I am thinking it's the glowsize parameter that indicates if an outline is added. The fonts are in the zip file so I'd guess you could replace them with another font and see what happens.

Stephanie, the arrows only appeared in 3d mode on my unit, even before I use your fix to hide the boxes.

  9. Thanks dericn.

    UPDATE:

Outstanding, It works perfectly!!. This was the one thing that bugged me the most, and now its fixed. Stephanie you are the greatest Goddess of all time. Please excuse, my ignorance earlier, I am not worthy.

    P.S. Did I mention........... you're a hotty.

  10. Thanks for the reply Stephanie. I fully understand your position. Would you mind if a usable method doesn't come up though, and its not to much trouble, could you still send a pm of how it could possibly still be turn off permanently. For me some fix is better then nothing. Good Job so far, you the man!

  11. Hi Stephanie, just a little confused on the blue boxes, I have CE booted up on my F90 right now, but don't quite understand how you got rid of the blue box. I wouldn't mind it being gone permanently, as you stated you have done. If you don't mind could you give some instruction on how to do this for simple but good with windows people.

  12. Wow, I just woke up to see all this. I am new to the forums and just wanted to vent a little on something that bothered me. Didn't mean for all this nonconstructive arguing to happen.

my pioneer rep told me that the boxes should be removed on the next update fyi

Cool djhuab, I hope so. That would be great news.

  13. Well, for me it is a big deal. Sometimes when I'm in a new neighborhood and I'm looking at houses, I like to free roam and know if a street ends or not. Very handy for me. For me this is one of the reasons I use the map without a route programmed in. I'm not nick picking, you can't help if you don't like something. Many in here are hoping for fixes that bother them, and for me this is the one thing on the pioneer that bothers me the most. I can't force myself to like spinach, no matter how much I chug it down.
