  1. Thanks for the tip! I just tried that (basically tweaking its registry settings). I was able to up the volume slightly, but still no where near the nav volume. Will keep playing
  2. Sounds like my solution is to cough up the $750 for the iphone then I wanted an excuse to anyways.
  3. Yes it is the volume coming out of the Z3. Apparently people I can hear me just fine. Unfortunately, my phone has itts 'in call' volume maxed, and still barely audible Have trying with a couples (Moto Q9H and Moto L2) with same affect.
  4. *bump* Has no one else experienced volume problems with their phone? That would be good news because it would mean it is somehow fixable.
  5. I am using the bluetooth module with my Z3, paired with a Motorola Q9h. It connects perfectly, sends contacts and can make and receive calls. The only problem is that the volume on the calls in practically inaudible. It is so quiet that you cannot hear it while the car is in motion. This is despite the AV muting, the phone volume being turned all the way up, the windows closed and the A/C fan off. I use the handsfree quite frequently, and it was one of the main reasons I purchased the Z3, so I really want to resolve this. I want to avoid having to install a separate hands-free system if at
  6. Depends where you are. Technically we have it available here in Vancouver, but the reporting is non-existent so it is no use.
  7. Thanks guys. I assume the same goes for the phone, as it is quite quiet despite being turned up all the way.
  8. What is the SLA? the source level? If so, this ups it for both XM & Sirius at the same time, so Sirius will always be much louder.
  9. Nav system is installed and works great. There is one oddity though - my XM is coming in quite quietly, while my Sirius is much louder. Unfortunately I can't compensate for this with the volume controls (that I can see) as both the XM and Sirius are control together (you can't set the volume independently). Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I keep having it turned up to listen to XM then get deafened when Sirius or any other source comes on. Thanks!
  10. Thanks guys. That answers my question. Cheers, Pete
  11. Quick question - Does the nav guide voice/system sounds not scale relative to the source volume? When I have the music up it completely drowns out the voice, and when I have the music off, it sounds like it is shouting. I have had a few in car systems before, and they have always set the voice volume relative to the 'general' volume. I know I could ask it to mute while giving nav instructions, but I really don't want to interrupt the passengers listening to the music. Any thoughts? Am I completely missing a setting? Thanks!
  12. HI guys! I was installing my Z3 today, and everything went pretty well. Unfortunately in the process I managed to accidentally cut through my cars antenna cable. Am I able to simply splice it back together, as you would a normal wire, or is there something special about them? Any thoughts on how to fix this? Many thanks!
  13. That nickname gave a baaad mental image I am having difficulty clearing...*shudder*
  14. What about 'Torona'. I found that very few devices (biological especially) tend to remember there is is a second T. This is the first system I have owned with the interface & voices in only in American English. Definitely took a while to get used to.
  15. I know that Garret has posted the metal tray and screw parts on here before. they can be ordered straight from Pioneer I believe. If you do a search of the forums you will probably turn up this info - if not Garret is sure to know.
  16. Shouldn't making them any size under that max work, as long as you keep the proportions the same?
  17. 2592 x 1944 pixels... Perfect!
  18. Did you find an answer on this? I would be interested too, as I plan on uploading many contact photos.
  19. Garret, you are the man. I will use the 'guide on' lead in place of the blue/white wire. What exactly is the guide on lead meant for? Mute an external device when the nav voice comes on? I am installing it in a 2004 Land Rover Discovery, which I hear from everyone at the local A/V shops & land rover forums is notoriously bad to try and integrate an aftermarket system with. Apparently their amp is very proprietary and you lose the sub functionality. I will play around a bit and see what happens. Worst case scenario is I just redo the wiring from scratch and ignore the OEM wirin
  20. Damn. Mine definitely does not have those wires (the mute or the amp on). I have attached the photo of the Z2 RCA connector 1 harness I received with mine. Mine was second hand so it is possible those two wires were yanked. There are two empty pi/wire slots on the harness, on the leftmost side (beside the right audio input wires). However i can see on the HU that there are pins for those two slots. I assume that one is the unnecessary mute wire and one is the amp on. Any idea which on the amp on is? That way I can put a wire in there myself rather than having to order a whole new harness.
  21. No thoughts guys? I am going crazy here trying to get this wired in. Does anyone else know if there really was a blue/white wire on their RCA connector 1?
  22. Hey guys - I am having some problems doing the wiring with my Z2 and I am hoping someone can help. The wiring harness for my car has a blue/white amp turn on wire coming from it. The Z3 manual (I upgraded my Z2 => Z3) says on page 15 that RCA connector 1 should have a matching blue/white wire attached that I would connect it to. My problem is that my RCA Connector 1 has no blue/white wire... It only has RCA plugs (L/R Front speaker, L/R Rear speakers, L/R 'subwoofer or non-fading output', and L/R AUdio in, video in). Am I missing something? I can't for the life of me find the bl
  23. Why are you guys ordering discs? Can't you just use the image on here to upgrade to the Z3 which has the newest maps? It might save a lot of time if they are that back ordered - or is there a reason that the discs are preferable to upgrading the unit with the disc image?
  24. I am pretty sure you can't do them in Edmonton... something about extreme temperature... I believe the specs say they don't operate below -60 Celsius...
  25. I think so. I know for sure in Canada that all stock HID units have to be self-leveling. Some advertise them as such, some don't mention it because it is assumed. I have not heard of any aftermarket kits that have any kind of self level functions
