can someone explain how to use the 1-6 Function keys? i can scroll through the songs but I cant play them..

I have the N2 unit but and the ipod add-on. When i hook up the ipod it shows that up as pioneer on the ipod screen however when i try to play a song the unit keeps reading "ipod000.. ipod 001.. ipod 002 and so on" I can access the folder and see all the songs but cannot play them The only options i seem to be able to access is the stop and pause but no PLAY. Can someone please help? Thanks
