  1. I checked the status under hardware setting and noticed that reverse is showing "low" regardless of whether I put the car in reverse. I presume this means that my reverse lead is not hooked up correctly?
  2. VTL300 came only with 2 other(power and ground) wires other than rca. I would have thought the D2 would receive the reverse signal and automatically turn on the camera input. I will double check the reverse lead to the headunit. Thanks again
  3. Thanks again for your reply. I have 2002 Ford Escape. I know that there is a reverse wire black/pink near the driver dash but I don't think it will power the camera. I also noticed something strange. When I first start the car, I see the full screen camera view even though I have NOT put the car in reverse! This full view goes away when I click on other views (e.g. Nav, radio). Did I screw up my connection by tapping my camera with 12v acc and ground of the D2 headunit? Or is my reverse wire from headunit not connected properly. Thanks again
  4. Ha - you and me both. I took 12+ and ground from the headunit. My issue is that D2 won't automatically switch backup camera when put into reverse. I am having tough time figuring out where the reverse wire from D2 is going to (I didn't install the unit).
  5. Thank you for the reply - yes, camera is set "on" and "battery" for polarity. I see that both VSS and rear sensor wires are connected to something (inside the firewall). I am starting to wonder if reverse wire is properly connected... Shouldn't the reverse wire be connected to rear backup light lead (way in the back?) Thanks again!
  6. Hi all. Just installed VTL300 on my D2. It works fine when I go into rear camera mode but it's half screen and won't turn on automatically when I put into reverse. I orginally had the unit installed professionally. The reverse wire from D2 seems to be going into the engine bay via firewall. Do I need to tap into rear backup light in order for this to work? I am currently getting 12V and ground from the headunit. Thank you in advance!
  7. nkosi - ok got it. I presume I will need to get power from 12v acc as opposed to from reverse light so it gets power all the time.
  8. Any advice on how to wire VTL300 such that camera works regardless of reverse or not? I am sure if feasible but I would like the camera to turn on automatically when in reverse... and then have ability to switch to camera while driving. Thanks
  9. Quick question for those with VTL300 - How do I wire such that the camera is always accessible even though I may not be going reverse? Thanks!
  10. Hello all, I am curious what people are doing to prevent thieves from stealing your VTL300. Someone mentioned drilling new holes and bolting from inside. I 'd like to avoid that if possible. Thanks!
  11. Do all AVIC's suffer from the delay? I have D2. Thanks for the info on VTL 420 - seems like a good price
  12. Hello - anyone try these cheaper cameras on ebay. I am currently considering this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/CAR-REAR-VIEW-BACKU ... dZViewItem However, I have some reservations given that it's a CMOS technology.
  13. HiFi - you are amazing - Thank you. It's for a 2002 Ford Escape XLT. I think I know how to get the trim off but wasn't sure about the radio so I can access the back. Your second pict didn't come through. Thanks again! Just wanted to make sure I didn't need a special tool or something.
