  1. Thanks again for your reply.

I have 2002 Ford Escape. I know that there is a reverse wire black/pink near the driver dash but I don't think it will power the camera.

I also noticed something strange. When I first start the car, I see the full screen camera view even though I have NOT put the car in reverse! This full view goes away when I click on other views (e.g. Nav, radio).

Did I screw up my connection by tapping my camera with 12v acc and ground of the D2 headunit? Or is my reverse wire from headunit not connected properly.

    Thanks again

  2. Ha - you and me both. I took 12+ and ground from the headunit.

My issue is that D2 won't automatically switch backup camera when put into reverse. I am having tough time figuring out where the reverse wire from D2 is going to (I didn't install the unit).

  3. Hi all. Just installed VTL300 on my D2. It works fine when I go into rear camera mode but it's half screen and won't turn on automatically when I put into reverse.

I orginally had the unit installed professionally. The reverse wire from D2 seems to be going into the engine bay via firewall.

Do I need to tap into rear backup light in order for this to work? I am currently getting 12V and ground from the headunit.

    Thank you in advance!

  4. SBKIM,

Yes, wire the camera's power to ACC. Also, make sure the pioneer wire marked reverse is tapped off of your car's reverse signal light, so that the HU knows to automatically switch to the camera when you are reversing.

Got it - thank you so much!

  5. Again, thanks for the great info on this forum. Unfortunately, my install guy refuses to do this mod for me. However, he says he can leave this so it's easier to do the mod - whatever that means. I presume it will be easier to ground these two wires near the headunit vs. somewhere else?

Also, he mentioned that I need a relay to make it work with my D2... I know most of you guys made it work without a relay/switch.

    Thanks
  6. PaisanNYC - great idea! I am now thinking about getting these portable units rather than the hard wired/mounted. I will just install AVIC D2 with the cables extended to the rear seat area for easy install later.

    Thanks!

  8. Thanks for the reply. I think I like the simple dvd player option. So far, I am looking at the following players:

Many of these appear to be made by one or two no name brand from China. I know I am taking a risk but for under $100 it might be worth it.
  9. Greetings and thank you so much for the great forum!

I just ordered AVIC D2 and am considering adding a DVD player to link in via AV cable. I spent last few days searching for an affordable DVD player to link with AVIC (not via proprietary cable) and I found nothing but no name brands (mostly on ebay). Can anyone recommend a good unit - I guess I can careless whether it's a high profile brand or not as long as it works well. So far, I've found brands like Boss, Audiovox, Pyle, offering standalone DVD player that might work with AVIC D2.

    Your thoughts?

    Thank you
