Can you manipulate imported background pic to fit screen similiar to strecthing to fit the screen on a PC?

I purchased one of the Z3 HDD and true to his word the unit was sent promptly and works flawlessly. I had some minor issues unrelated to his HDD and he provided quick and helpful answers.

Downloaded and copied Z1 firmware update. Followed everything to the letter. System uploaded new firmware successfully. Checked version under settings and was correct. Lost onscreen button functions in several areas after update. Did reset and made it worse. Did total system reset to factory speecs and no change. Does anyone have a solution?
