  1. I don't see the gains either. My settings are sticking just fine, I just don't see the improvement.
  2. I borrowed a friends WD Passport 2.5" drive, that came with a separate power supply. I ran that off an inverter, and hooked it up. The drive was 250GB, formatted FAT32, with about 100GB of music. Results? It worked. But it was WAAAY slow. The results from BorisM (5-10 minutes to load) were accurate. It took forever, and the responsiveness of the unit was such that it was almost unusable. If it had worked I would have bought one the next day...as it is, I'll pass. But these Trekstor drives look very interesting. It looks like they don't experience the same problems with the slow
  3. I've done the forum search thing, and I know it's not officially supported. I don't really care if Pioneer supports it, I'd just like to figure out a way to get it to work. So the question for the masses: Does anyone have a working USB Hard Drive attached to this unit? If so, could you please use this thread to provide model/manufacturer and any technical details you had to follow to get this to work? Thanks everyone!
  4. It's my phone. Just wanted to update this topic so it didn't leave on a hanging note. My phone is a Motorola VE, everything worked except the voice dialing. So I synced up my wife's phone - an LG Chocolate, using the same contacts, and it works great. I say "Call home"....works. Call Dominos...works. Call someone with home or cell...it asks me to confirm...works. Time to upgrade phones I guess. Super.
  5. aargh no dice. I edited 160 contacts, and I see the same behavior. So I tried again, and deleted all but a couple (home and brother's cell), and tried with just those two. Same problem. I did try with the 1- in front for each, as I need to include that for these contacts. Any other ideas, or should I just chalk this up to a problem with compatibility with this specific phone ? Thanks!
  6. My biggest complaint about this unit is the inability of the voice recognition to understand ANY of my contacts. "Call Bob" or "Call home" doesn't work, but "Call 555-1212 works fine." It works fine for all other sources. My phone is a Verizon Motorola VE. I seem to remember reading a thread before I bought this unit, but after 2 hours of searching I can't put my fingers on it, that noted I needed to edit the phonebook to a specific format. So I have copied down the file, and using the SQL editor I have tried using 1235551212 (without the 1 in front) and 11235551212 (making sure AL
  7. That did it. I spent an hour tonight rewiring as noted above, I'm all good. Thanks !!
  8. Yep, that's the problem. I did have it installed (I just didn't have the time), but I am familiar enough with this stuff to be dangerous. I did the mod for mute/parking brake myself after the fact, and I've now done the bluebox mod and used the sql tool to edit my contacts. The camera I am using only has one line for power (don't some have 2 just for this reason?), and they ran power directly from the back of the headunit from the rear view turnon. If I swap the power to a switched source, I now see the display anytime EXCEPT in reverse - now the problem is backwards. Can I connect
  9. Hello - I have recently purchased a F90BT (abt.com - $800) and have it installed in a 2006 Toyota Tundra. I actually love this thing, and outside of a couple of quirks I highly recommend it (the boot time doesn't bother me). My issue: I have a rear view camera installed, and it works just fine when I am in reverse. However, when I am driving and I select my source, there is an option at the top for rear-view-camera. I presumed this would allow me to view the camera while driving (which I need, since I do some towing), but I simply get a black screen. The black screen DOES have the
