HOW TO: Increasing RAM WinCE to Improve System Response
vagetaqtd replied to vagetaqtd's topic in Hacks/Mods
Yes, I did notice that if you set the memory to high it resets itself to default settings. I left it at 2048KB reserve for storage, the rest for programs. Be sure to disable Error reporting service as well, its useless. -
Nope, Your flash memory might be corrupted. Good thing you were able to boot into WinCE to restore the flash.

HOW TO: Increasing RAM WinCE to Improve System Response

For those that are having issues with this mod, many people who have tried this already do notice a better response time because their changes are being saved. If you really want to know if your WinCE settings are loaded each time you start your NAVI, go into Control panel and go under "Owner", there you can enter in your name and personal info, etc, it also gives you an option to display this info each time you boot. I enter my name and check this option. Next time I booted into the NAVI software, a info window pops up instead of the splash screen with my name displaying and with an optio -

Remove the SD card, and restart into Navi system by turning off your ignition and on again. Hitting Reset will result in losing of all your settings. -

Memory Settings are under system. Error reporting service is under "Error Reporting", both are located in the Control Panel in WinCE. Be sure to press OK after you make the changes. Also, if you set the memory for storage with a very low #, it will automatically reset itself to the default. 2048KB seems to stick for me and others. -
Did you try to get a replacement before filing? Usually a new unit will do the trick. Have alittle patience, new update is expected to be out soon. My only complaints about this unit is its slow bootup time and the unstable ipod connection. Everything else seems decent to me.

If you really need service from Pioneer. Just use excel to create a decent looking invoice stating the authorized dealer's name, address, phone, etc. and along with its store logo to make it look legit. Chances are the guy receiving your repair unit will just glance over the invoice and accept the repair. I highly doubt they will check the invoice for authenticity. I've done this several times with other companies before. Is it unethical? Not really, I paid the item and supported the company already.

After you change the settings, press OK, not close the window. Boot into the navi software and reboot into test mode to see if the changes took effect. -
Nope, don't worry about. Happens with my 2G Iphone also.

Thats good that the two of you notice that the buttons and menu changes are more responsive. Ok people, everyone change their memory settings and disable the error reporting service!! -
So I was playing around in WinCE and found out that under "System" in Control Panel, there is a Memory options to increase the amount of available RAM to use for either storage or programs. Default was around 16480KB to the LEFT which is reserve for storage (which at the moment only had 348KB in use). So I decreased that amount to 2048KB, and press OK to save. I also disable error reporting since that service needs internet to use anyways. After rebooting into the navi software, after everything loads, I notice that the button responses and menu changes were faster than normal. Could it b

Pressing "Hide" only hides the controls, but not the Ipod icon on the top left corner and the bar info bar at the bottom.
