  1. I purchased a 60GB HD from Garret back in August 2008. At first, I was concerned with the fact that I wasn't getting an automotive-grade hard drive. I am pleased to say that the drive has worked flawlessly since day 1. Last week, I sent my drive back for the 2009 upgrades. Garret received the drive on Saturday morning, sends me an email letting me know it got there safely, and sends me another email less than an hour later letting me know that the drive is on its way back to me in CA. Later that night, I got the automatic confirmation number from USPS (which still doesn't work LOL). T
  2. I don't know what would cause that. Mine opens/closes while the HU is booting up.
  3. This is what worked for me. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but feel free to try at your won risk. -Pull out the HU, but leave all of the wiring connected. -Remove/peel back the white Pioneer sticker on the bottom. This will reveal a crescent-moonish shaped hole. -Inside that, you will see 1-3 holes on a thin metal sheet (it's been a while, so I don't remember how many holes you can see). This is where it gets just a little tricky. -Turn on the power (key to ACC/on). -Raise the HU so you can see the bottom. -Push the button to open the screen -**Within two
  4. I searched a couple pages and saw that I am not the only one with this problem. Some people's screens partially work (tilt/open), and some don't move at all. My screen either works perfectly or it won't move at all. Kinda sounds like loose wiring to me, or maybe something occasionally gets stuck in the gears? Other than the confirmation beep, I don't hear the motor or anything at all. I really don't know what to make of this. Like many others, I get the "beep" to drop the screen, but nothing happens. When I try to Tilt +, I get a beep, then it exits the tilt screen menu. I have had
  5. I have a June 06' Z1 upgraded with a garrettoomey Z3 HDD. The drive worked flawlessly, but I still got locked out of certain function at X mph. After I followed ducati's " For all units made since 07/06, or any unit updated with the Bluetooth Update CD" bypass a couple of hours ago, all lockouts are gone. Kinda nice not having to remember to flash my headlights. Anyway, I tested the unit for a couple of miles (40-60 mph), and it works fine. Make sure the mute wire was pulled out of connector 1 and then reinserted into connector 2. Also, make sure it was inserted all the way into the
  6. I just got and installed my Z3 HDD from garrettoomey. Installation was EASY. I was afraid of stripping the #0 screws, but it was no problem at all. The update took longer than the install. I haven't had a chance to try out nav, but everything else seems to be just fine so far. garrettoomey answered all of my questions, and did everything to make the transaction go through without a single problem. Thanks again!

    2008 Maps

Thanks captain. Now I guess I have to get the 2 wire bypass done on my May 06' Z1 for the bypass to work. I've read that many faster/larger drives have reset issues. I'm glad to hear that garrett's drives don't suffer from this problem. It's been a long time since I checked up on hacks for the Z series. I'm glad I did!

    2008 Maps

Is the map database on CNDV-800HD the same as what is currently on Z3's? If it is, I'll just buy a hard drive from garrett. Thanks.
  9. My free promo is about to run out (in about a week). I called today, told them that my promo was about to expire, and that I want to use the ZWINBACK coupon for $77/year. The CSR canceled the 1 year I was supposed to start, and applied the code.
  10. I did the same thing. Actually, I signed up yesterday, saw this thread after signing up, and told them that I forgot to use the promo code. The lady I was speaking to asked if it was a factory installed XM unit. I said, "I guess so; it was there when I bought the car." I also dropped my plan from 2yrs to 1 year hoping they would offer $77 for the second year or better...didn't happen, but I can use the code when my subscription ends. Thanks for posting the info.
  11. I'm not paying $200 for a fuse, so I guess I'll be using the ground wire. Thanks for your help.
  12. Is that something that pioneer would need to fix, or is there some fuse panel where I can simply swap in a new one? Thanks.
  13. After searching "Buzz" OR Buzzing AND Z1, it seems that most people are getting engine noise, buzzing until music plays, buzzing with BT, buzzing from headlights, etc. My Z1 started buzzing after I started messing with my RCA's on the amp (Arc Audio KAR 400.1). I ended up breaking a solder point for the amp's RCA input. If I pushed the RCA into the amps RCA input with some force, the buzzing went away. The solder point has been fixed, the amp passed all tech tests, and I still got a buzzing noise when I reinstalled it. Even if I push on the plug, the noise won't go away. The buzz is
  14. Thanks guys. I'll just leave it off.
  15. I'm not sure if there is a problem with my Z1 or not. The rear channel sounds muffled (relative to the fronts). It is most noticeable when I adjust the fader all the way to the rear. The strange part is that the rear speakers "come to life" and have good clarity/punch when I swap the Amp-side RCA's Front to rear & Rear to front. Also, the front speakers have the same problem that the rears had when this is done. I tried doing this again, but this time at the Z1's end. I got the same results. My installer looked at it, and he can't figure it out either. He thinks it's a problem with
