  1. I'd be willing to give it a go. I have done quite a bit of interfacing with Window's GUI and other programs, mostly communications programs and databases. Keep me in mind. John
  2. I don't remember seeing the crumbs on the Z1, maybe because it was defaulted off and the Z2 was defaulted on. No, I haven't tried the new features yet. I have been busy with other stuff and should be able to do a good shakedown of the Z2 over the weekend. Thanks for the tips! John
  3. Outstanding, thanks so much for the assistance. John
  4. I have installed the Z2 image on my Z1 and have noticed a few changes in the operation of the unit. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this... 1. The Nav Voice now mixes with the XM audio, instead of muting the XM audio when giving me the next NAV instructions. Can the mute be enabled when the instructions are given by the NAV unit? When the two mix, its very hard to understand the NAV commands. 2. When driving with the map on, I can see "crumbs" on the NAV map, showing where I have been (looks like little dots, spaced apart). They even show up the next day on the route I took yest
  5. Thanks for the information and the link to the manual. I think for now I'll stick with the Z1 since the maps I use are correct. John
  6. I have a Z1 installed in my 2007 Super Duty and just love it. Now that the Z2 is out and there are/were rumors that we'd be able to do a software upgrade to make the Z1 a z2, why would I want to do this? Does anyone know the differences between the two units? Yes, did a search on the forums and found information pre-release of the Z2 but didn't see any reviews of changes since release. Might have missed them as well... I know the maps and POIs are updated, but what functionality and/or bug fixes are implement? Thanks for a great forum. It is a wealth of info. John
  7. Thanks to all who have responded. I stopped by a local audio shop in town. They had a Z1 available for install. Wanted $2200 for the Z1 and install. Not a chance... I have since purchased the following online from various sources: Z1 (1925 w/3 yr warranty) iPod interface (40) XM w/Traffic (160) Steering wheel interface (47) dash kit (15) radio antenna L segment (13) Pioneer rear view camera (177) Bluetooth (90) Ford wire harness (10) Prices in parens. Hopefully I got everything. I asked Crutchfield about special tools to pull the dash or the OEM stereo. Was told the das
  8. I've been reading quite a few posts here about the Z1 and I'm about to take the plunge. I'd like to know if its something an average guy with mechanical skills and electronic skills can do? I don't have any special tooks to open up the dash or the instrument panels. Can someone point me in the right direction? What and where would I find the necessary trim and removal tools? I figure to go with the Z1, XM Radio (no traffic), bluetooth, and the flasher mod. I want to be able to play DVDs going down the road on the HU and change NAV destinations on the fly. So, I think the flash mod will do
