  1. I used one of the photos on this thread and modified it to add a nissan logo - it's 800 x 480. When I install from USB the picture comes up and shows full screen with the "OK" at the bottom right. I select OK, and everything seems fine, however next time I startup the screen is about 1/3 normal size. Anyone have any suggestions?

I did this before with no problems, but had to re-setup after my system crashed. I'm not using the same file, but I am using the same picture, which I got from this thread.

Edit: figured it out - somehow the photo was 802 x 482. Weird that it showed full screen during the preview though.

  2. Just wanted to give a huge thank you to Retell for this. My unit had a fatal application error and shut down. After that every time I turned it on I got the splash screen, then it just went black.

I spent about 5 hours researching this site but was never sure exactly what to do or how to do it until I found the link to this thread. This worked perfect and I'm back up and running (with some cool mods btw). Saved me $200 bucks (I can't believe Pioneer would charge that much for something that would be so simple for them to fix). I just had to delete Canada and Hawaii maps to make it work. The only thing I notice is that on a couple of system settings screens when I hit the back button it takes me to the phone menu - no big deal, everything else is great.

Now I also have a bit of confidence to consider other mods.

Thanks again Retell, and everyone who contributes to this site.

  3. I know this is an old thread, but I have the same problem except my unit doesn't continually try to rebood (it just tries to start, then goes blank) and I have version 3.020100. I accessed testmode w/the USB version of testmode v2.3. I get the same symbols in the myflashdisk folder. Where can I get a backup f/ my version? Is it a matter of copying files from the update SD cards that I have or is there somewhere I can download it?

I"m not very experienced in this - I never modified my unit, this just happened one day after a fatal error message was received.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  4. I've had my Avic 700bt for nearly two years w/ no problems. I upgraded to the most recent firmware many months ago, whenever it was released. Today I got a fatal application error while the unit was starting up. I didn't have time to read it all before the unit shut down, so I don't know the details. I've tried restarting it - the splash screen comes up for a bit and then the unit just shuts down w/ no message.

Searching on the forum it seems most of the errors that result in similar shut down happen during the firmware update, which is not my case. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions that can help?

  5. I tried searching for this because I know I've seen it in the past, but I can't seem to find anything. Side note: people keep getting on people about searching, but I find the search engine on this site not to be very good - am I missing an advanced search feature somewhere? I think it would be helpful.

Anyway, my navigation suddenly stopped working after I had to reset the unit for some reason - it won't pick up the satellites and showed the last know location near my house. It won't come back by resetting or restoring factory settings. Has anyone had experience of antennas suddenly going bad? I've had the unit for more than a year with no problems. Any other troubleshooting advice? Thanks for your help.

  6. All my voice commands work perfectly except when trying to call someone. I don't get a call to the wrong person I get..."I didn't get that. Please say the name or number you wish to call." I can't figure it out.

  7. My F900BT update "shipped" last night. No tracking number. From what I have read from others, I think Pioneer's definition of "shipped" really means "finally charged your credit card, considering putting the item into a box sometime soon........maybe" :-P

Did they give you an invoice? My shipping notification came w/ an invoice. In the "Carrier" section there is a "PRO#" - this is the tracking number. My card was charged when I ordered a month ago. Mine is supposed to arrive today.

  8. I recently had to reset my unit to factory settings and I can't remember how to set the unit so that whatever I'm listening to at the time is not muted when the navigation voice chimes in w/ some instructions. I can't seem to find it in the manual (or by searching this forum). Can someone point me to the manual page or tell me how to navigate to that settings screen?

    TIA

  9. It seems on my F700 that I can only effect a change to the warnings when a route exists. Is that others' experiences?

This morning I was listening to a podcast on USB that I had to turn up pretty loud to hear well. When I went over the speed limit my eardrums were nearly ruptured by the warning. I tried changing the warning settings to 125% from 100%, but they kept coming at 100%. I tried turning warnings off, but they kept coming. It wasn't until I added a route, had my ears blasted again, and then deleted the route that the changes to warning settings took place.

  10. First, thanks todx and terron for help on this topic and all of avic411 and members for a great, informative site.

Two months ago I said I was going to do the install that weekend - well, one bathroom remodel later I finally installed the unit this weekend. Overall it went pretty smooth and so far I'm happy with the unit although I still need to do the 2.0 upgrade.

Anway, todx do you have any more info on the trim panel? I'd like something to fill that gap.

  11. todx,

Please let me know about the dash kit. I didn't think one was needed.

Regarding the blue wire - I've since read on a review of the product from Crutchfield were the reviewer said he got poor reception until he hooked it up.

Where exactly did you locate the gps antenna and how is it working?

  12. Thanks for the reply terron. Does the antenna wire go to the blue lead marked "antenna control"? I thought that was only for powered antenna's, but it's the only wire I have left on my power cord and the only one that might make sense. There's no wire marked as you suggest.

  13. I’m planning on installing my F700BT this weekend in my 2008 Nissan Frontier and have a few of questions before I start. I’ve done a search, but can’t find the answers, so sorry if these have been addressed before.

    1. I have a wire harness from Crutchfield, but it doesn’t have a pin for the ILL wire. I’m wondering what to expect behind the dash. Should there be a wire on the dash harness that includes the mating wire or do I need to look for another location to connect? If another place, what is the best place? I have auto headlights – could I connect it at the sensor, which is at the dash just behind the radio?

    2. The antenna adapter has a blue wire – does this have to dow with the power antenna or fm modulator?

    3. I have the Sirius tuner and IP Bus. I was thinking the power would come through the head unit, but looks like I have to connect it separate. What’s a good place? I was intending to locate the tuner and IP bus under the front passenger seat, which doesn’t have power seat controls. It seems awkward with the bulky “boxes†on the power wire.

    Thanks for your help.
