  1. EDIT: Nevermind. Found the search button. That thing rocks.

    Great up! Thanks!

I have not looked through all 43 pages, but when I'm in 3D view, none of my street names/labels are showing up. Is this normal?

It was there on v2.0 for me, but not it's not there. I can switch to 2D view, and the street names/labels show up just fine.

    Any ideas?

  2. Thanks for all this info!

I'm having an issue though --- I can get to the part where I choose Update via SD (Format) --- and when I insert the SD card and and click the knob, the unit read "Read Progress: 100%" and just gets stuck.

Doesn't move from here. I can't get into Test Mode.

    Any ideas?

  3. Is there a way to get Samantha to say street names instead of "Take the next right"

She says this I've noticed when there is less than about 400ft to the turn.

If it's more than that, she'll say "prepare to turn right in 1000ft onto Jefferson Ln"

But, if the next turn is within 400-500ft, all she says is "take the next right"

Can I have her say the street name instead?

  4. Nice! Just what I was looking for! How pathetic of PIONEER! WOW! This is awesome!

Anyway, does anyone have these files edited that they can upload? Or does the code need to be edited individually?

I say this because I'm trying to edit the files, but it's a bit more complicated than I thought.

I thought I could use someone else's files as a template...

  5. Okay, guys, got the GARMIN XT to work with the same file found in a previous post.

I followed the instructions provided closely until it got to the portion about getting the UNIT ID (which is essentially your SD card). Because this is primarily for a mobile device, the instructions say you need to get the unit's ID, but since we are all installing it on the SD card, our "unit" is the SD card.

So, to get the "unit" ID, you need to put the SD card back in the AVIC unit and toggle through the settings (I can't remember which one specifically right now, but it's one of the ABOUT settings). It will say UNIT ID --- copy that number down and you should be good to go with the remainder of the steps.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the GARMIN XT software provides TTS, which I was hoping it would. My only real concern with the NAV in the AVIC now is the TTS voice SAMANTHA --- gawd awful.

    Good luck!

  6. Dude, this sucks...I was hoping they would update the TTS voices...

It's ridiculous that it says "Take 57 State Highway 57 Northbound" when a simple Garmin just says "Take 57 North".

Not to mention Samantha's ANNOYING voice, wow.

The improvements are obvious so i will just list my standing complaints:

-VR for phone still doesn't work. I have the same problem as lromoda.

    Call John Doe

    .....

    I'm sorry i didn't understand that

    Call John Doe

    ....

    Calling 812

I've also tried "call doe john" and tried some single word contacts like "home" or "mom". Nothing.

-Still switches to map screen when making a call. This is just stupid and has to be easy to fix.

-Samantha still sounds terrible, we need a better voice. And the iGo TTS needs to converted to true US ENGLISH, not this UK nonsense...or should i say rubbish. "Enter the roundabout and take the 3rd exit" or "Take the exit for highway four hundred twenty two" No offense to the British people on here but there are some clear differences that most other navi's take into consideration. I actually fixed the "roundabout" and "turn back" myself, but haven't figured out how to get it to say "422" as "four twenty two" instead of "four hundred twenty two"

-still no way to toggle between presets besides the buttons on the screen. This should be possible via wired remote but for some reason doesn't work

-still no preset labels on HD Radio (duh)

-still no heading up in 2D (duh)

Two other things i'd like to add:

-the static with key beeps, mine has always done

-the destination deleting after it is reached, mine has also always done.

-I'm also convinced the ipod disconnecting issue is a faulty cable. At least i know mine is because it only disconnects if i play with the cable, leave the ipod loose in the glovebox and hit a bump, make rally turns, etc. I put my ipod in a holster and clipped it to the shelf in my glovebox and it didn't disconnect at all.

  7. Yes, the 700 came out the same time is the 900/90.

If you only dial four numbers, why not just use the 'call history' button instead of all your contacts?

I didn't think of that, I'll try that, but it's still messy...I just want all four on screen, nothing else. But whatever.

    @akkasoglu

What navigation software are you using? I threw in TT7, but I don't really like it.

Why is it that we have to rely on another coder to get things right from this unit?

  8. Okay, so I bought the F700BT for about $560, now I'm upset as I see all these eBay deals, but whatever...that's besides the point.

Anyway, here's a few annoyances that I'm having, can any of these be fixed without waiting for an update?

    1) BT Contacts --- can I put favorites in here? As opposed to cycling through 250 contact to find the 4 people that I actually call while driving?

    2) SD Card --- file management = non-existent? Shouldn't I see a folder view so that I can choose WHAT I want to play?

    3) Navigation: one of the many annoying features on this navigation --- when you reach your destination it doesn't automatically delete it. WTF? Is it supposed to keep tracking me to the spot once I've already arrived? Do I have to manually delete every route once I reach it? Wow.

    4) SD media volume is SUPER low...am I doing something wrong?

This unit is about to go back to where I purchased it from...this is ridiculous...

  9. Is it possible your car has an amplified antenna and they didn't hook up the wire from the deck to turn it on? Your reception should be very good

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Would you happen to know if my antenna is amplified? I'm new to all this, so I'm just trying to figure out how to get great reception.

  10. Okay, so if I buy the HD tuner, which is like $90 shipped on Amazon, will I get song titles for my local radio stations? Like KROQ, KFI, etc? (LA market)

What's the advantage of the HD tuner besides sound quality? (which I need, because the built in tuner is horrible on mine)
