  1. I originally had an 80gb iPod and everything worked perfectly (videos would play throughout with no crashing). With everything working properly I started to gather more movies onto the iPod which made me upgrade to a 160gb iPod. That's when the crashing 4-5 minutes into a movie started. This weekend I transfered all of my movies back to the 80gb iPod and everything worked perfectly with no crashing. So I am coming to the conclusion that it has to have something to do with the newer 120gb and 160gb iPods and the Pioneer unit because going back to the 80gb iPod made the movies that would not play on the 160gb iPod play perfectly.

  2. Does this work on 3.0?

Yes. The A/V part of the AVIC, which the Image.res covers, has not changed much from 2.0 to 3.0. The only thing that will need to be fixed would be the box that comes up on the Nav screen when a phone call is in progress.

  3. I thought I read about this once awhile ago but can't find it anymore. So I decided to post about it to get some answers. When I try to play movies on my iPod the movie plays for 1-3 minutes then shuts off. I have to unplug the iPod plug the thing back in to get recognized again then if I go back to the movie it will start where it left off but just shut off again after 1-3 minutes. I thought that since I changed my ripping software it was the source of the issues but all of the old videos that played fully through with no shut offs have the same shutting off problem. So I'm pretty much stuck and would really like to get my iPod back to playing the videos properly like before.

  4. Then I guess there is never a 100% quotient factor to anything.

I just work everything to the n'th degree in every facet of what I do as I never settle on mediocrity nor do I have any complacent blood running through my veins.

Don't get your thong in a twist, bro. I am just trying to get some resolution to MY situation to see if it was tied to THIS thread.

    Guess not.

    ...Later

I don't think it's tied to this thread. It seems like you are trying to change the AVIC POI files that are allowed to Brand and the Branding.zip file only makes .bmp's show up on AVIC POI files that they choose to allow us to Brand.

  5. ..also, some are in the poi file but they do not show up. The cod looks like this:

Even tho Arby's is there it does not display but the rest do. So maybe these are not branded yet?

    Thanx,

    Bud

For those click the edit button and see if they are in the pages of bmp's that are allowed to be used. Which would mean they are called out and trying to be used but the code just is not written properly for them to be Branded for that particular Restaurant.

  6. That is what I was thinking but the problem I can see is the bmp order in the file does not correlate to the respective image. The "Mc Donalds" image is the fifth one down in the poi_brand_fast_food.bmp and the code in "poi.icons" file calls for 11 yet the icon is correct when I pull them up in the POI management screen.

Now I am somewhat confused but with your GREAT tutorial I should be able to cobble up something!

    Thanx!

    Bud

I am not allowed to use rapid share at work so I can't DL the Branding file right now. But what I am assuming is the McDonald's image being called out in the poi.icons file is not calling out the McDonald's bmp from the poi_brand_fast_food.bmp.

  7. ..as a for instance. But I still am not sure how it pulls the particular little .bmp image and associates it with the particular restaurant. I am hoping somebody with the "know how" can give me a quick tutorial on how this is don so the lines of code can be added to bring up all of the rest of the fast food joints, i.e; The ones that we have the images for in the bmp.

To have the icon show up in the Manage POI pages all you need to do is call out those specific icons from the Fast Food file.

For example if I wanted Arby's to show up just in the pages of pictures to choose myself but not actually branded. All I would need to do is call that .bmp out like this (now I'm assuming Arby's is the first picture in the poi_fast_food.bmp file)

    [Arby's]

    $poi_mapdistant.bmp

$poi_fast_food.spr 0 (this 0 represents the fact that Arby's is the first .bmp in the poi_fast_food.bmp file)

    poi_fast_food.spr 0

If I wanted to have Arby's already branded like the Stores, Hotels, and Gas Stations the code would go like this

[Resturant.Fast_Food.Arby_s] (that's assuming its in the fast food category and not American or something else, not at my car right now)

    $poi_mapdistant.bmp

    $poi_fast_food.spr 0

    poi_fast_food.spr 0

Hope this was the tutorial you needed to figure it all out.

  8. Its funny you discovered that as well. I just discovered the same thing as well about 2 hours ago and have FINALLY fixed the problem. However deleting the file caused errors with my unit.

I just got into work and was about to write that my unit rebooted everytime a mulptiple POI icon was needed.

So pretty much its red diamond or no icons (with your solution) at the point where multiple POI's are present.

  9. However, yes, the red diamond is a pain in the ass. It seems to appear if two or more icons are too close together and has only seemed to become a problem with the 2.0 firmware version. It never appeared with the older version. As soon as I can figure out where in the code it is being activated I will kill it. Unfortunately I do not know where to look.

The Multiple Poi icon can be found in the poi_mapclose.bmp in the Branding.zip file. The red diamond is number 74 on the list. So I checked the Data.zip and found where the Multiple Poi is being called out.

You can find this under Data.zip\ui_pioneer\icons\poi\multipoi.icon.

Clicking on that gives you this statement:

    ÿþ$ p o i _ m a p d i s t a n t . b m p

    $ p o i _ m a p c l o s e . s p r 7 4

    p o i _ m a p c l o s e . s p r 7 4

I have deleted that file and will test it tomorrow morning when I go to work, but I am thinking with that file deleted everything should go back to normal.

  10. It works with the iGo 8.0 system and for me in Florida the 2008.10 Poi file was larger than the 2008.04 Poi file. As well as the fact that the Resturants are categorized even more that the previous Poi files. So all in all its a plus for me, especially since I figured out how to place any iGo 8.0 ready Poi bmp and make it show up on my unit if categorized.

  11. I have been able to get the Burger King and McDonald's icons to show up on my unit already branded with 2008.04 maps. With the 2008.04 maps I can go to MANAGE POI search under RESTAURANTS then go to FAST FOOD under that category there are several places to show a poi for such as Burger King, Chick-Fi-La, McDonald's, etc.

I got the Burger King and McDonald's poi icons to show up by placing this text

    [Restaurant.Fast_Food.Burger_King]

    $poi_mapdistant.bmp

    $poi_brand.spr 19

    poi_brand.spr 19

    [Restaurant.Fast_Food.McDonald_s]

    $poi_mapdistant.bmp

    $poi_brand.spr 99

    poi_brand.spr 99

    into the Branding>ui_pioneer>icons>poi>poi.icons file.

  12. halomez what file are you editing there and where is it located? I've been all through the data.zip and most of the bmp's but don't see anything related to poi's.

He is looking in the Branding file that can be downloaded one the first page.

Once you have downloaded the Branding file you unzip it and go to ui_pioneer>icons>poi>poi.icons
