  1. It's been a while since I have used my F90BT and I am still waiting to see whats going on with a possible Z120 before I buy the Z110. In the meantime, I am using a POS Kenwood DNX8120. Do the Pioneer units not have a "sync with nav" option for the dimmer? If not, I guess I've finally found something that the Kenwood does better than Pioneer. I was thinking that the F90BT map turned to night mode at sunset like the Kenwood does and dims the screen as well... But like I said, It's been a while. This would be very annoying for me as I don't use any of those crappy interfacing devices and I would not enjoy searching for a wire to hook the illum wire to

  2. Im new to this site and b4 i install this Z-series in my truck, i was wonering afew things....

    1. Has anyone installed this unit in a 07 Tahoe??

    2. Will i still b able to control the audio from my stering wheel??

    3. Will my XM radio and Onstar still work with this unit?

    4. Will my rear tv still work at the same time as this unit while playing a movie??

Please let me know as i am excited to buy it

    thanks

Yes, yes, yes and I'm not sure. First things first... Do you use Onstar? If not, things get a lot simpler and less costly. The OnStar module does control your chimes and turn signal clicks in addition to OnStar. I have not missed either of these things. If you're not interested in using OS, there is no need for the retention module which is going to be an additional $175. If you choose not to use OS, there is a bundle of blunt cut wires below and to the left of the HU. A little bit of a chore to get to, but not too bad. All the 12v, acc, and ground wires you'll need are here. Tape the unused ones back up and out of the way.

As far as the steering wheel controls, you will need to purchase a PAC SWI-P. They're fairly easy to install while installing the HU, although the set-up can be a little sketchy at times. All in all, you should be able to control most of the audio and VR functions of the HU through your wheel buttons.

It's fairly easy to use the factory installed XM antenna, but you'll need to buy the Pinoeer XM tuner. You just need to get in behind your glove box and remove the factory XM box, cut the clips off of the left side of the mount, use a little double-sided tape and stick the Pioneer box to the old mount. Next, remove the plastic retainer from the XM antenna wire, since it will not plug into the Pioneer box. Plug it into the Pioneer box. I have never had an issue with it falling out, but I'm sure you can get creative with a little electical tape if you're concerned about that. Make the necessary electrical and IP Bus connections, and you will have XM - be sure to call XM with your new tuner id #.

  3. BTW... Has anybody tested the CD-R55 or R99 with the WRI-P? I'm not really concerned with the VR functionality as I can use my steering wheel to activate that, and it appears from previous posts that you can assign a button on the remote to handle that. I whould like to know if the number keys on these remotes work as I frequently use direct tune for xm. Also, how well does the d-pad on the remotes work?

  4. I need Instalation advice I cannot wire the WPI with the (Red wire) with my Gmos-04 harness , the wpi frys my gmos04. Anybody got any ideas where i can get an alternate power source besides the red wire coming from the harness. Thanks

Depending on the year of your GM vehicle, there should be a bundle of blunt cut wires somewhere below and to the left the head unit. Following is a quote out of the GM electrical manual for my 08 Silverado 2500HD:

    Installation Instructions —

    12 Volt Accessory Power Supply

    1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) cable at the battery. The

negative (-) battery cable must be disconnected before the

positive wiring lead is connected to the power accessory.

    2. Locate the power supply harness under the instrument panel

near the center of the vehicle. The wire bundle consists of six

blunt cut wires, two red/white (battery hot), two black (ground),

one light green (Ign hot) and one light blue (Ign hot).

    3. Remove the tape to release the wire bundles from the

    power supply harness.

    4. The IGN A and IGN B wires have voltage supplied and are

HOT when the ignition is turned to ACC, RUN or RAP

    (Retained Accessory Power).

The BAT A and BAT B wires have direct voltage supplied

and are HOT at all times.

The combined electrical load of IGN A and BAT A must not

exceed 21 amps (250 watts). Additionally, the combined

electrical load of IGN B and BAT B must not exceed 21 amps

(250 watts). The combined electrical load of all circuits must not

    exceed 42 amps (500 watts).

    5. Prepare the wires that are to be used to connect the power

accessory. Do not remove the unused wires. Tape unused wires

back in their original position under the instrument panel.

    6. Complete the wiring installation of the customer added

accessory with additional wire required for the specific

electrical accessory power connection. The wire gage,

12 gage (3.0 mm²), should be the same as the wiring of the

    installed harness.

I recommend using these wires for any of the power needs for aftermarket HUs and related accessories. I had used an OnStar retention module for a while because 1) I thought I'd use OnStar and 2) it had the necessary wires for the assorted input wires of the HU harness (reverse, vss, parking brake - see ground, 12v, acc, ground). After the module blew, which didn't take long, I found all of the wiring points in the electrical manual. I never missed OnStar and I certainly didn't miss the chimes. I usually have my music, Rush, Hannity and/or Levin turned up too high to hear the turn signal anyway. In short, if you don't use OnStar, there's no reason at all to keep replacing those fragile POS retention modules.

  5. is there any way to get the compas to display in degrees instead of cardinals? Also would like to know how to get the altitude/elevation displayed. I'm really new at this; just got my f90bt the other day and have already updated to firmware v. 2.00 and done the software override for dvd viewing. Beyond that, I'm still an idiot. noticed a post in the thread that gave simple code for doing this, but how will i know what it looks like before uploding it to my hu? which bmp's to use?
