can someone tell me where everyone is getting the new z1 update disk. i called pioneer and they said you have to go through a dealer install. any help would be appreciated, thanx.

hey, first off i am no electronics genius(like some of the guys on the site), but i have a 2005 lincoln navigator(same example as a 2005 expedition). here is what i had done. avic z-1 with 2 wire bypass (i will be installing the z-2 update disk next week). all factory speakers removed and replaced with infiniti component speakers. new 10" infinit sub-woofer in custom fiberglass box. i initially left the stock sub-woofer hooked up, but it became a problem. the stock sub could not keep up with the rest of the system and became a weak spot in the system. i went back to the installer and he totally unhooked the factory sub. the factory sub is junk. i had the rear camera option/bluetooth phone option/sirius radio/pioneeer ipod dock/ all installed with the pioneer components. i have two amps, one for the speakers and one for the sub. i also had a compustar deluxe security package installed, and all windows tinted 15%. so far i have had zero issues with anything, and absolutely love my avic z-1. it is so awesome and looks so cool. my favorite is that i have full control of my ipod through the touch screen, and never touch my ipod, it is locked in the glove box. if you have any general questions i can help, but i can not get too technical, i have an absolutely incredible installer. see ya

is there any way to be able to make the nav guidance voice mute the "bluetooth" when you are on a call. my nav turns off eveything(radio,ipod,ect..) to talk to me, but if i am on a phone call, i will miss a turn because she does not talk to me then. any help!!!

hello, i had my verizon wireless razr hooked up on my z1 bluetooth, and it worked great. i switched phone carriers to t-mobile and got the phone hooked up. well, everything workd fine, except, when i dial a phone# i cannot hear anything until the person on the other end says hello. once they pick up and talk everything is fine, but until they pick up i hear no ringing or anything. antbody got an idea. thanx phone is t-mobile v195s

i am a little confused. when the z-2 update comes out, do you have to get the whole "z-2" update, or will there be an option to just get mapping update. i know it is not out yet, but i was just wondering if anyone knew the answer. thanx (i have the z-1)

i only use my ipod!!! i find i won't listen to anything but my ipod. so i would like to give someone a great deal, and make myself a little $. please let me know if i can sell it or not, thanx.

i am by no means an expert, but i would do a level 3 reset. it soumds like the hdd is a little confused. hope this helps a little

every time i call my mother the first thing she says is "oh, you are in your car", and i say yes. i say how do you know? she says, well, i can tell, but it does not sound bad, i can just tell. well, a couple days ago i did the bluetooth disk fix. i have called my mother several times since, and each time she says, " where are you?" i say i am in my navigator, can't you tell, and she said, "no, it sounds perfect, like you are calling from home".

the update disk takes a few minutes to upload, but i really believe they figured something out to fix the problems. just thought people might want to know.

i have an oct 06 build date, yesterday i got the disk from pioneer and i uploaded it. it uploaded perfectly, and i made some calls and the people said there was a noticable improvement in overall quality.

understand why we have these old maps!!!!!!! i just do not get it. we

are supposed to have the most modern nav systems and our maps are old. i called teleatlas and talked to them, and they said, well, we have given pioneer the most up to date mapping data, you will just have to wait to get it from them. i don't get it!

i got the disk you sent with the lincoln backgrounds. so easy to load, and it looks awesome. thanks alot!

I am stealing this idea from an earlier post. i will pay a reasonable amount to someone that can make me a lincoln background. i would need the disk and instructions on exactly how to install it. the lincoln emblem or something to do with the navigator. something really rich and cool looking. if you would be able to do this please let me know. thanx

just out of curiosity, how could that happen? it seems strange to me. please let us know how this occured, by putting a small piece of platic on it.

i am new to this nav stuff, so be kind. ok- i was out today practicing with the nav. one thing stumped me. i am driving and the nav wants me to turn right onto smith st., i can clearly see smitth street is closed off. what do i do at this point? do i tell the nav somehow, do i drive right by the street, i am confused!!!!!! please help, thanx.

very nice review!! i am new to the z1, had it a short time. i am so amazed by this unit that sometimes i just go into the garage and sit in my car and look at it, and listen to music. i was so damn sick of fm radio(the stupid contests/the dj's/the commercials/the repetition of songs) i feel free having my ipod and shuffling songs. i am SO impressed with sirius radio. i took the free 3-day listening for xm and sirius. just my opinion, but i thought sirius kicked mega ass, and xm bored me to death. i love the WHO channel and the metal channels and the classic rock. i love sirus radio!! the bluetooth is awesome also. i think it is so cool being able to change functions with the touch of the screen, it is so futuristic and modern. i am in awe of this thing. i always loved my navigator, now i am obsessed with it, all because of this avic z1.

hi, my installer just did it that way, he said it is the best location. i really don't know if it is diffuclt or not. and yes, there is a choice for having what speakers the phone voice comes out of.

no, that was wrong. i had to go into av - system settings - and hit the "mute" button until it came to the choice i wanted.

thanx guys, under settings, i went into volume, and next to voice guidance there is a picture of a little speaker, i hit it and it got a red "x" through it. i think this should do it, i will test in the morning. thanx for all the great help!!!!!!!!!!!!
