ok friends ... let me tell you my story which is really weird and can help others !!!!!

I have a F900BT and i couldn't watch dvd or videos due to the restriction that the device had !!

Recently i had update my device to the 3.0 firmware and everything was working just great but i still had the problem with the videos. I wanted to do the trick with the wires etc ... but i think it is a good chance to update first the firmware.

So i went to the official page of the pioneer and download the free newest firmware AVIC_F700BT_F900BT_CNSD100FM_VER_3020200 !! The update was successfully. It was a good change to apply also a very nice mod which is this "skip navi warning nag screen at avic" (viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25108) !!

After this, i tried to restart the device and test it !! So i went for a ride. Sound was ok, navi was ok and then sudenly i had the idea to test the video while i was driving... GUESS WHAT ... The videos were playing even with a high speed of the car. I tested also with original dvds, fake dvds, avi videos and everything was playing !!!

Is this some kind of trick ?? I never touched ANY wire and the videos before the upgrade were NOT PLAYING (while i was driving). Now videos are working while i am driving even with high speed.

How normal this is?? Can someone do the same procedure as mine and see if this is also happens to him???

Just a question :

 

i have done all i think

- flash with wince of version 3.0

- replace apl with new of 3.0

- replace apl2 with new of 3.0 (thanks a lot for avix-weo)

 

now i have card 2.00004..

and version 2.00007.. ( is it normal? )

 

all works well but the version should be 3.0000...

 

i want to know if i have lost one thing to do

Well... your steps seems OK. Did you delete the APL/APL2 directories and paste the new ones? Perhaps you just overwrite them and that is your problem.

Could we have an update walkthrough please?

 

do we need to

 

1. Backup current my falshdisk using testmode (which version?)

2. Update WinCE (any link to EU walkthrough for this?)

3. Replace APL folder from F900bt European site

4. Replace APL2 from avic_weo

 

Any more steps? Is it really this simple? Any formatting of internal flash disks needed?

You have it about right, I used test mode V2.3 to back old flash data up and later to paste new Apl and Apl2, details for how to update wince are available if you do a search for Konick he kindly provided enough info for me to do this procedure trouble free.

Excellent !! Simple steps.

1)Update Wince.

2) Replace APL folder with the one that Paul gave us some days ago.

3) Replace APL2 folder with the one that avic_weo gave us.

Will do the update when i go home. With these steps .. are we sure that we have the full version 3.0 or we need anything else?

2) Does this update have the option of 2D (NOT north!) ?

3) Well this update works only on US units or i can add it to my Europe unit?

4) Since it is for US, and assume that it has 8.3 maps... i have to find and download some european 8.3 maps correct?

5) What is this 3.1 update that i saw here? News saw it before today.

2) yes

3) it has US maps, you can add it to your EU unit

4) you need the 8.3 EU maps plus a license file

5) the torrent is a 3.0 version, that can be updated to a 3.1

So... IF someone has a Europe Unit, he can do the update, he can see the new menus etc... BUT he will have the US maps. So if i am guessing correct ... i will need a licence and a map for my country. I am wondering if i can use the same as in my PNA which runs IGO8.3 ??!! I will try and tell you ... !

(perhaps someone already done this...and tell us if i am correct).

Are there any OTHER differences regarding the US and the EU units??

(i mean does the radio presets are working ok because i thought there was a big difference between US and EU units. I don't know if it was hardware or software difference).

I read before that someone put the old hacked Ezrider and it worked ok with the old 8.0 maps but with the new firmware. I guess this is a good and practical solution for now...if we can't find any licence file for EU units.

Ok ... i read everything and it is time for my stupid questions:

First of all i would like to tell you that i have a EUROPE unit, i have already update my WINCE, i have already upgrade my unit with the files that were posted some days ago. So i can change presets using my steering wheel etc, but i still have 8.0 maps.

did you install something special for steering wheel function?

No. I didn't install anything else. Before the update ... it didn't work ... and after the update .. it works! (i am always talking about changing the preset stations from the left up button of the wheel)

As for the speed ... i think it is really in a good stage. Since it doesn't bother me ... i think it is quick enough.

Since noone answered my question regarding the update ... i tried it by myself.

So ... The correct procedure for a european Unit is the below:

1) I updated the WINCE from the wince files that Paul uploaded and the instuctions i got here in forum (don't forget to do the update WINCE and choose the option WITHOUT format).

2) Testmode works just fine after the update. I got in the windows, i renamed the APL directory (backup purposes) and i add the APL directory that Paul gave us too.

3) Reboot and everything is working just great.

To tell you the truth i didn't see major changes, but it solved me the problem i had with the steering wheel. Now i can change my presets with a button in the left side of the wheel.

If i see anything else .. i will write it.

One comment though, if you simply rename the APL folder to something like APL.OLD there is no need to delete it, you can just copy the new APL on the flash drive then, I think there is enough space.

1) We have to update the WinCE version of our F900BT (in my situation).

Question: Which are the correct winceimg files in order to update our unit in EUROPEAN version? In the other post i think we have the US version. (And i think i do understand how to do the updating of the WinCE).

Sorry if this question has been answered before...but do we have any information regarding the buttons in the wheel?? Is Pioneer going to fix/modify them in order to change the radio station from the wheel??

It has the licences you need. Try and tell us the result

Once you apply the hack, you can use any iGO 8 maps

One important note: you can use any iGO 8.0 maps, but not 8.3!

 

iGO 8.3 has different map format and you can't use any newest 8.3 maps (either TeleAtlas or Navteq) on stock AVIC-iGO.

I can't find where is the important thing in this! You mean that from now on i could not update my maps in newer versions?

So i just change the maps. The software is the same.

So there are no other differences between US and EU model right?

yes you can buy a us unit an install european maps on it. normally us version only ship with us maps,but with the newly discovered hack,you can now install any map on it.

Well can somehow get and install the default europe maps(that comming with the europe devices) in US device?

Or i can only install maps like iGo or Tomtom etc?

It is really nice to be with you in this forum that i just discovered.

Well ..i read many topics here in the forum but i want to ask some things before i buy the Pioneer F900BT.

I am in europe and i want to buy from the US the US version (it is really cheaper). As i understand right now... we can change the licences to Europe mode and we can do the same with the Igo Maps. By default the europe version came with Igo maps or not? (am i correct till now?)

Are there any else differences between these two versions?
