  1. Sorry I'm late on the replies. The frame kit for mounting is from Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120999105/ ... r-Kit.html It's the Metra kit. I think I paid like $20 + shipping... fit and finish looks good, so no worries there. As far as the microphone reception, it's not bad, could be better, depending who I'm talking to I sometimes need to talk directly at the microphone, so I'm probably going to end up moving it out of there (I get a wicked rattle from it sometimes) and attaching it to the sun visor. We'll see.
  2. Installed last weekend in my 2001 Audi A4. Couldn't be happier so far with the unit. First, let's rip out the old stuff... Run some wires for the microphone... Toss the microphone where the stock mic was located... (works great!) Parking brake wire... Test fit USB cable goes here... mated with Apple Composite Cable (not pictured) Bad picture of the completed install... but you get the point right? Unit runs two RCAs; one to a JL 250/1 amp powering a JL 12w3v2 sub for bass... then another to a PG Octane-R 4.0.2 powering Focal 136K components.
  3. I have the Composite cable from Apple with my iPhone 3g. You have to hit "No" to airplane mode when you plug it in, but other than that... it works flawlessly. As stated, the unit does not have Component inputs.
  4. I would assume if you drop the knee bolster that you could route it there quite easily.
  5. What I mean by that is... if I strip off the jacket, is it a single connection, or are there multiple channels/connections beneath the jacket? To get this thing connected into my stock setup I'd need to cut the wire and thread it through, then solder it. Anyone cut one up before? Pioneer tech support wouldn't provide me with an answer. Thanks in advance!
  6. So it doesn't "lock you out" like on some head units, where if the cable is plugged in, you can only use the head unit to control the iphone/ipod and that's it? That would make this infinitely simpler. Thanks for the response!
  7. First post, go easy Has anyone had luck streaming Internet Radio to their Avic unit via the iPhone 3g? I'm assuming that one would need to not utilize the USB connection and simply use the RCA inputs? I may end up just grabbing a cheap car charger off eforcity and wiring it separate to charge while I'm streaming... and use the normal plug when I'm using the iPod functions. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
