  1. V1inM3, I just did the Z1 to Z2 upgrade today. I was also considering the same options that you described. I decided to do the following. I looked on ebay and found someone who was selling the 40gig toshiba drives for $99 + $16 shipping for a $115 total. The drive is pre-loaded with the Z2 maps and firmware and is fully unlocked. The Z1 won't lock the drive when powered up. That means that this is the only drive purchase that you (or I) will have to do. The firmware and the gracenote database that were loaded on the drive were the next to newest update. So I burned 2 disks with th
  2. Thank you very much inferno! That's what I thought. This site is great!
  3. One more question. When I have my new Toshiba loaded with the Z2 image, do I then treat my Z1 as if it is a Z2? Specifically, do I apply the firmware update for the Z2, or do I still apply the Z1 firmware update? Thanks! I have been reading a lot and maybe this was asked and answered, but I don't recall seeing it. Thanks again for all of the help!
  4. With the z2 upgrade, are there any updates to the Sirius portion of the interface? I have read that there are some XM upgrades, but I have'nt seen any mention of Sirius upgrades. If anyone knows, please post. Thanks!!
  5. I just updated my Z1 with the Bluetooth update CD that I downloaded from Ducati's web site. It loaded 100% on the first try and the Connector 2 ground bypass worked flawlessly! (I removed the flashing circuit that I had in earlier) I made a couple of calls from my truck and NO MORE ECHO, ECHO, ECHO..... Thanks to everyone here, this site is the best!!!
  6. Thanks for the quick ship Ducatiboy, it's appreciated! I have come across a wiring diagram guide for my 05' Explorer. I am attaching it for anyone who might find it usefull. 2005 FORD EXPLORER 4DR SUV WITH 4.0L ENGINE AND MACH® AUDIO SYSTEM Audio Battery WHITE/YELLOW (+) Accesory BLACK/PINK (+) Ground BLACK/ORANGE (-) Illumination RED/BLACK (+) Amp Turn On BLUE/RED (+) LF Speaker (+) ORANGE/LIGHT GREEN LF Speaker (-) LIGHT BLUE/WHITE RF Speaker (+) WHITE/LIGHT GREEN RF Speaker (-) DARK GRE
  7. Thanks again to you ducatiboy. I also just ordered one of your flasher circuits. I paid with paypal funds. Let me know how soon you will ship it. No rush, just want to know when to expect it. Thanks again for all of your help!! This site is the best!  8) 8)
  8. I guess I got it right. It now shows my 3D calibration status as 3D Hybrid. Woo, hoo!!!!! I love it when things actually work the way they are supposed to! 8)
  9. OK. I did the following before I read Ducatiboy's last post. On the main connector from the vehicle, I in fact found the gray wire w/black stripe. The main connector is connted to a Ford wiring adapter which is then connected to the Z1. I followed the factory gray/black wire into the first adapter and it changed to a white wire. I followed it through to the second (and final) adapter which connects to the Z1. It does not go through the second adapter. So I just cut the white wire and attached the pink speed sensor wire from the Z1 and it seems to work great. I started driving and the spee
  10. The main connection from the vehicle that connects to the Z1 has a gray wire w/black stripe, but it is connected straight through to the front speaker connection of the Z1. The all gray wire and the gray wire w/black stripe are for one of the front speakers. I'm going to check one of the other connector blocks behind the radio that are not being used and see if one of those has a gray w/black stripe wire on it. Any other suggestions? Let me know please. Thanks. :( 8)
  11. You are correct. In my case, I don't really care about night mode. So that's why I did it this way. But now that I can turn on nightmode by turning on my highbeams, I just may get used to it and have to hook it into my headlights. Guess I'll just have to wait and see....... 8)
  12. Wow. Thanks for the quick reply!! My factory unit DID have speed sensitive volume so I would expect there to be a wire for it behind the radio. With your advice, I now know what color wire to look for. I will post my findings tomorrow after I give it a try. Thanks again!! I appreciate it. 8)
  13. Hi all. I have a quick question about installation. My unit was installed 4 months ago. It works great. But the installers didn't hook up my speed pulse sensor wire. I know I don't need it, but I also know that it is more accurate that way. What wire in my 05' Explorer do I connect the Z1 to for the speed pulse sensor? :?: Thanks in advance for the help!! 8)
  14. This mod works great! I have had the Z1 for about 4 months. I found this site 2 days ago and I think it is great. Everyone really seems to be helping one another and the comments I have read enabled me to do the "light flashing" mod to unlock the Z1 while driving. I did do the mod a little differently than anyone had posted. Instead of hooking into my parking lights, I just hooked into the lead going to my high beam lights. This way, it does'nt matter if my lights are on or off, all I have to do is pull my light "wand" (as if flashing my highbeams to pass) and presto! it works!! Th
