  1. So I've had it back from Pioneer for a while now and it still reboots constantly. I checked every wire in my harness, all are fine. Grounded to two locations now instead of one. STILL REBOOOOTING.

ON HOLD NOW WITH PIONEER. (not happy)

I just want it to work!

If I power cycle the unit it will work for a day before starting to reboot again. Happens every time.

  2. it didn't make sense to me either. it was quite surprising and obviously made my day. i did call our local retail pioneer rep, so i think he probably had something to do with it. after contacting him, he had someone from pioneer call me directly and gave me instructions on how to ship mine out. i just figured i'd send it back, they'd fix it and send the same one back to me.

That is what they are doing with mine. I sent it in, they are fixing it.

  3. HOLY CRAP!

so today i come into work bummed out knowing i have to package up my bricked F90 to be sent out and be without it for 2 weeks or so only to come into work today and find out that pioneer had already sent me another brand new F90 through UPS. its pretty much another brand new one in the box with all the wiring and accessories.

    going to install this tonight!

    A++++ for pioneer customer service.

They sent you a new one before you even sent them yours? That doesn't make any sense.

  4. Update:

I was thinking of other ways to try and diagnose this issue. A couple of days a go I turned OFF all inputs. No audio playing at all. The unit has not rebooted since then. This is leading me to think the unit is not getting enough juice to power the speakers (2008 Subaru WRX stock speakers).

I am going to try running power directly to the battery instead of through the factory harness. If this doesn't work I guess I'll give up and send it back to Pioneer.

  5. Appreciate the replies and commisurate with your experiences. I originally noticed that the rebooting would occur when my phone was being connected. With that in mind I re-installed the previous version of bluetooth and have not had any rebooting issues (dont have voice commands working though, but I'll live with that). Probably just jinxed myself and tomorrow it will start again. I am resistant sending it to pioneer....

Good luck and thanks for providing solutions

Every time I think I fix it the next day it starts rebooting!

  6. I just got off the phone with Pioneer USA... from the details I described to them they think it might be a short somewhere causing the issue, or possibly a bad speaker coil. (I wouldn't believe it but surprisingly the guy seemed fairly knowledgeable.)

He told me to recheck all my connections behind the unit, and possibly jump my ground to a second location (while not a short it might fix some other issues).

If that doesn't fix the problem then test the speaker coils. Turn on the unit, fade to 100% front, turn the volume up slowly and see if the unit resets itself. If it doesn't repeat with fade 100% to the rear. If either the front or the rear causes the unit to reset then balance left and right 100% to test each speaker. IF one of those causes the unit to reset itself then replace the speaker.

I haven't tried this on mine yet as I have other plans for the weekend but someone here might find it useful.

Lastly, I was told from the guy the only major time the AVIC reboots itself on its own is when its built one of its fault circuit detects a short somewhere.

  7. Mine started doing this yesterday again, I erased my user data, fixed it temporarily but then started doing it last night. I tried finding the cause based on only having ipod connected, not having ipod conected, only having bluetooth connected, not having bluetooth connected, nothing connected, and it reboots no matter what I try.

    It is really annoying.

Thus, I still dont know what is causing this damned reboot or how to fix it.

What is the turnaround time on sending it back to pioneer?

  8. Hiya,

I did a search around and found a couple of threads but none with a good answer.

Are the maps on these updated periodically? There are several roads around my area that are well over a year old...some around 4 years old and aren't showing up on the AVIC-F, makes it kind of inconvenient for routing.

Is there anywhere I could tell people about these roads? Some of them aren't even minor roads, I would have thought would be on there, but they aren't.
