  1. whoops, guess I didn't read that part. That's really weird it doesn't work, have you tried it on a TV just to make sure the video out is working? I have my little HP laptop hooked up to my HDTV, so I guess I could just hook that into my AVIC as well. Hmm got me thinking now

  2. There's lots of people that have the same problem including me. If you have the pioneer cable that's the problem. They are not very good quality. Also somebody posted a solution to this same problem stating that it was the conection of the pins in the rca harness. I checked mine and was fine, then redo my wireing and the problem seamed to just go away until a couple of days ago that it came back. I'm sure is the cable because all other sources work fine except the ipod. I'll be changing my cable to the apple cable, it seams that it works perfectly to all the users that have it in thus community and it also looks a lot better than the pioneer wich looks like a cheap third party brand.

Let me know how the apple cable works out for you. I'm gettting really sick of ripping my dash apart :x

I just got a Ipod cable from Bestbuy, made by Rocketfish, it works really good so far and only 35 bucks. Looks identical to the Apple one and a lot better than the Pionner

  3. I just installed an F90BT in my wife's truck. It connected just fine with my Moto Q, but when I went to show her how to use the dang thing and connect her phone it wouldn't work it keeps dropping the connection. She has a Samsung Flipshot as well. The F90 came with the blue and orange dots indicating the latest firm ware (there's even a sticker on the box saying 2.0). I would never have thought to go look at Pioneers update web site info to find out that you need a different BT version.

My question.... the instructions say to download both the F-series system firmware (version 2) and the BT firmware update (in my case version 290). It then says to put the files for both updates onto a SD card. It implies that you have to have the system update files on the SD card as well, but if I already have the latest system update can I just put the BT files on the SD card by themselves?

I had one of the first flipshots and mine too kept turning off, I just got a replacement today, and now it works perfect, just gotta get it to transfer the contacts, not sure if it was the first few flipshots just didn't have what the new ones do, I do see some differences between the 2 phones.

edit:I knew I should have read all the way down...sorry for pointing out what you already found out.

ok last edit: I cannot get mine to send the contacts, I did the pair from phone and it does the disconnect but the second connection fails...I guess I will keep trying, now I have the new bluetooth but not the different one cause the flipshot is the SCH-U900, but you still have the alt. bluetooth installed and got the contacts to work correct? So maybe I will have to try the alt. software and see how it goes, I can call and get calls just no contacts.

  4. Well I got home today and pulled out the wiring and it all looks fine, I replaced a few of the connectors to see if that will fix it, but leaving either the power wire off or the red wire off, I couldn't get it to replicate what it has done the past two mornings, my dad brought up a good point, if there is a bad solder joint on the inside it will be affected quicker by the temp, and maybe that is separating and reconnecting, so if it does it again tomorrow morning, I'm going to take it back and swap it out.

  5. Well I just spoke to Pioneer and the guy said that weather has not been an issue for the AVIC line and he also suggested the shrinking and expansion of the wires, so I think I'm just going to solder and heat shrink the harness so there is no possible way for that to be an issue and if it still does it take it back for another.

The only thing I can think of is that the yellow power wire would be the problem, since the red wire must be working ok for the unit to know the truck is on, or the ground is not very good. I will check these two wires first

  6. I don't know that I would rule out wiring problems. Metal expands and contracts with heat so if a metal wire is barely making contact and it gets cold it would shrink slightly and move away from its source. Once it warms up it could move even closer to the source making greater contact than if it were just at room temp. Maybe I'm way off but at least that's how I'm rationalizing it.

I never thought about it that way, so my guess is that it must be either the yellow, red, or black wires, I ordered a backup camera, so I will re-check all the wiring again when I have it all apart putting that in. I know that it is getting power somewhere cause it does turn on, but if it isn't a good connection like you said it may not be enough for the unit to turn on all the way.

  7. I'm wondering if the amount of air space and metal around the radio isn't making it seem colder then it is? I have an 08 F-150 and there is ALOT of empty space where the radio is, anyone else with a F-150 or similar vehicle notice this problem? I know the wiring is fine, because after a 5-10 min drive, shut off and turn on the truck the radio boots up right away, but it seems like just sitting all night in the cold does it. Last night it was 30's and with my truck sitting outside for a few hours it worked fine...not sure, I sent an e-mail to Pioneer about this as well to see if I should worry about taking the unit back in exchange for another.

  8. Hello, this is my first post, I just got the AVIC-700BT for x-mas and updated it, its awesome, however the past 2 mornings have been around 40 degrees air temp, and the radio won't turn on, the lights around the knobs turn on, and then right back off and nothing from the screen. But once I get to where I'm going and its warm in the truck if I turn off my truck and back on the radio works like a charm. I have tried resetting it while driving but it just turns the knob lights on then back off. Is this unit really this sensitive? Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks for the help!
