  1. My previous vehicle had a subwoofer, and now my new one does not, so: I am struggling with what the basic AVIC-Z1 audio settings should be set at for a 4 full-range speaker output; the AVIC Manual, is of course, no help. See below for simple questions: 1. I assume I set the Pre-Out to "Full"? I did find that in the manual! 2. Should I turn on Non Fading? 3. If I turn Non Fading on, what does adjusting from +6 to -6 do for me? 4. Should I use the HPF or does it matter? 5. Which Loudness should I use? Low, Medium, or High? By the way, my speakers have a frequecy response of 50-
  2. I just tried to update my Z1 with the CNDV-900HD disc (2009 maps) (previously, the 2008 maps were successfully installed) and the system only gets to 26% and then says "An error occurred and the update failed. Update is restarted by pressing "Retry"". I have tried "Retry" dozens of times. No luck and the system is completely inoperable becasue it wants to complete the update. Any way to reset the system while I figure this out?
  3. My AVIC-Z1 was made in March 2006 and it still has the factory original software loaded on it. I bought a SMinnTech Z1-FC (Z1 Flasher Circuit) but have not installed it yet, because I am going to upgrade to a Z-2. I also intend to switch over to the 2-wire grounding method, in preparation for the Z-2 upgrade. My question is, if I install the flasher circuit now, and get everything working fine, will upgrading to Z-2 change anything? Maybe my question is more: will the 2-wire grounding method in conjunction with the flasher circuit work for the Z-1 and in the future, for a Z-2 upgra
  4. I have a Z1 that was built in March, 2006. If I get the CNDV-700HD disc and do the upgrade, will it kill my ability to just simply flick my lights during start-up so I can watch movies on the go? Is this the same as a Z1 to Z2 upgrade?
  5. I have a Blackberry 7130e, and I got that up and running with my newly installed Bluetooth Adapter (ND-BT1). So, I though I would connect another phone: a Motorola Q. No luck whatsoever! The AVIC-Z1 "sees" the phone, but, when searching for devices from the phone to connect to, the Moto Q never connects. I eventually got the Moto Q to show [PIONEER NAVI] but that's as far as I get. No asking for password, no registration complete, etc. Anyone out there been successfull with the Moto Q?
  6. I finally got my vehicle in to get "fixed". All that was done was: 1. snipped the emergency brake grounding wire 2. reset the AVIC-Z1 (pre-july 06 model) using the reset button on the front panel Now the video (DVD) works fine and does not cut out at all! Thanks for eveybody's help. I am now, however, afraid of applying any updates for fear that what I have going for me now will not work!
  7. Hey: my unit was manufactured in March, 2006. As I mentioned previously, my DVDs cut out while moving, and they did not do this a few months ago. I checked the connection status, and the system shows that the parking brake is "ON" all the time. It does not matter if I flip the under the dashboard switch or not, and pulling the parking brake does nothing to the connection status. I opened that circuit anyway and reset the unit, and that did nothing also. Where do I get this Bluetooth Update CD? I am getting my Bluetooth adapter installed on January 9th, and the installer could "
  8. Thanks Guys: A few things: 1. Will check for loose wires 2. Parking brake has been grounded since day 1 3. Car is out of town right now, but I am pretty sure that the system says parking brake is engaged; not sure if anything happens when I pull the handle? 4. How do I know when my AVIC Z1 was made? I am not sure? 5. Parking brake is grounded, but there is a switch under the dashboard for opening and closing the circuit. I could try opening the circuit, and then try the flash by-pass? 6. Yes, I do lose map functions when the playing of a DVD cuts out due to hard
  9. I used the follwoing method very successfully: 1. Insert key into ingition. 2. Start the car. 3. Wait to see "Start up..." on AVIC-Z1 4. Pulse your light Once (turn headlight on and then off) But now, after several months, an interesting thing has happened: When I corner fairly hard, or brake hard, or accelerate hard, the video kicks out. The only thing I can think of is that the AVIC Z1 is getting G-Force information from its sensors to shut the video down. That does not explain why it worked so well for so many months? Anyone else experience this, and what can we
  10. I think that any Bluetooth phone should work with the ND-BT1, but I also though I saw somewhere that certain phones just did not work; like Blackberry devices. I also was able to look at the ND-BT1 manual on-line, but now I can't. Any idea where to see it without ordering it and paying for it? I though it has a lsit of phone?

  14. I also live in Toronto, and have a Z1. If the illumination wire is correctly connected, and the parking brake wire is properly bypassed, then all you have to do is flick the lights on and off during start-up and you can watch DVDs on the go for sure! I did not believe it until I saw it work for my self! My installer could not believe that it worked, either! As well, my VSS is hooked up and working perfectly, and does not interfere with watching DVDs on the go.
