  1. Makes sense, I've been gettin a sinking feeling of that. Thanks for the confirmation, help is always highly appreciated!
  2. crickets? ... wow... I'd have figured someone here might have run into an issue like this (or flamed me for not searching deep enough lol). No wonder why a couple hours of searching yielded the same result.
  3. Hey all.. Here's some background. I've had my F700bt in my subaru for a little over two years now and been relatively happy with it (rare I know) thus my lack of posting/lurking. Recently I acquired a terk XMDPIO110 and had a terk XMD1000 tuner laying around so I decided I'd toss em in. I had an existing xm account and added the tuner on a few weeks ago but just today finally got around to actually installing the bits. To my surprise the head unit will not see the new xm hardware. The xm icon stays greyed out. I've searched all over the net and here on the forum and I'm not able t
  4. I'm still trying to figure out why my blackberry 8330 has such a problem with the F700.. constantly connects, disconnects.. connect.. disconnect.. over and over. Works perfect with my personal phone.. dont get it. And it worked fine for a few weeks.. then this. Guess I'll start by re-loading the update from Pioneer and see if that changes anything.. I'm thinkin maybe got corrupt somehow? .. Any Idea's what to check on the crackberry?
  5. lol;) .. I feel your pain brother.. my second car is a Merkur xr4ti. It certainly has its fare share of wiring pitfalls. .. like when the door lock solenoid went, it killed the heated seats and half the dash lighting.. and even better.. none of those parts are on related fuses! .. It was easy to track down the solenoid because the pass door didnt lock .. but you can imagine my wonder when I replaced it and the fuse for the heated seats.. and magically the other stuff started working again... yikes. most of my grounds are brown, however.. zee sgermans keep everything h
  6. I've a F700bt .. works great with my personal Samsung phone NO issues.. just works and works really well. The 8330 crackberry I have for work though.. worked fine for a couple of weeks but now will not remain connected. Seems to handshake, then drop off. I'm not sure off hand what would cause it to just stop working (possible bb update? .. ) Other than that recently everything else works fine. Personal cell still works great.. I'm thinkin its the crackberry..
  7. there is no excuse for stupidity. Granted he did have a point about some cars having different wiring for the parking brake switch.. but then, even still you should be doing more research before you go randomly connecting things as he did on the first run. Great way to cook something I've found huge differences in how american cars vs euro and asian cars are wired. Cant apply same logic in a bimmer that you would in a ford or chevy. gotta love the ignorant guys that need a ground and "just look for the black wire" .. do that in a euro car and see what happens to ya lol
  8. ... probably should stop punching inanimate objects.. always get one of two or both possible end results.. broken shit, or broken hand .. both is just insult to injury. I hope your costly mistake has learned you something... btw, I see lots of people complaining about screen sensitivity.. did you guys rtfm? .. you can calibrate the screen sensitivity and it works quite nicely after that. I set mine probably a few days after install and have had no issues with it since. Only time it disagrees with me is if I try pokin at it before its finished booting..
  9. yeah, even verified that the orange wire had +12v when the headlights where manually (as well as automatically) turned on.. dunno.. Only thing I can think of is that I'm using a adapter harness to plug into the factory wiring and I had to re-pin it to match the new unit (had pioneer in previously so only had to move two wires) .. but I'm 90% sure I got that correct.. In all other aspects the unit works flawless. I really need to find a pin out diagram so I can verify the connections are correct.
  10. I agree 100% with the review.. dead on as far as I've seen out of my own F700 in the last 6 months of running it. I was tickled with it from the first time I fired it up. One detail I find funny is that it takes my car about the same amount of time to auto on the headlights at night from a fresh start.. so the boot time really is inconsequential. Its not anywhere as long as some report it to be. Only issue I have with mine is that it does not dim/bright with headlight on/off.. anybody have any input on that? Car is 07 corolla. op software edition is most recent and as of
  11. ... oh, nah, no caddy (would be nice ) lol.. its in a toyota. I verified the lighting feed wire before I put the unit in the dash .. so it gets +12 on the orange wire when the headlights are on. I need the pinout for the F700BT harness where it plugs into the back of the unit. If I can get that I can completely verify the hardware connections and start bangin around with the software. I had read somewhere that the F700 didnt have dimming capability.. but that doesn't sound right to me.. anyhow I'll keep diggin and report what I find Thanks for all the feedback! any other Id
  12. I have a F700bt. I ran through the procedure that you described again last night.. and went back to the main screen between settings.. still same. No change. I just keep it set at what is comfy at night and for the most part its ok during the day unless the sun and/or glare is right on it. I'll have to dig into this further. Anyone have a pin out of the harness and connector? .. I'd like to verify that if I can find a accurate diagram. Mine didnt come with much for documentation when I received it.
  13. .. hmm.. tried that in exactly that order.. didnt seem to work. I'll see about doing it again (when its not so damned cold out ) .. and see if it takes. Is there a logic file built into the os that allows it to work that way? I really have alot more searching to do here.. lots to know. Thanks for answering the newb question!
  14. Ok, just been reading here about the illum wire and day/night mode and dimming. My unit doesn't dim.. at all. I have the nav side set to "auto" and it pulls time from sat.. time is accurate on the unit .. but the screen brightness doesn't change when the headlights/dash lighting comes on with the headlights or by any sort of time reference. Any Ideas? I tested the illumination feed when I installed it, and it gets a solid 12+ v when the lights are on.
  15. Hey all! Like the title says, I'm new here and figured I'd come out and give a shout. I've been happy with my F700bt in the dash of my 07 Corolla for right around 6 months now. No hacks or mods yet .. "yet" So far though very happy with it. I also plan on adding a F500bt into my xr4ti.. but have some more planning before that goes down. Since the dash was never designed for such a unit, some nifty fab work will have to commence to make it look smooth like it belongs there. Anyhow I'll be lurking and sniffing around for info so drop a line if ya feelin social
