  1. Hey Chris - Sorry to hear this turned out even worse after sending your unit to Pioneer. I was in the same boat as you and was able to use the files from this forum to update my unit after the official update killed it. Even after recovering my unit and getting it updated, I don't see myself buying another pioneer car stereo. This forum is a major plus for the stereo. You can get it fixed, the info and files are available here. Screw pioneer - do it yourself and move on. It is unthinkable they are questioning your update purchase. Obviously you did, why else would you have sent them the
  2. I had the same problem. I also reverted to 2.0 and it crashed again at 3%. Here is what I did to fix it. (1) Use the service menu to update wince using the format option. Use the wince files found on SD#2. (2) Get the "My Flash Disk" files from one of the x910bt. See the hack forum for 3.0 hack. (3) Update your unit to 3.0 with x910bt files. (4) Put SD#2 in the unit with the power off. Turn on car. After the splash screen, the official upgrade will install itself. There won't be any input from you, no password or codes, just the white screen similar to SD#1 update. When it is done
  3. Screw pioneer. Fix it yourself. It isn't difficult. Maybe overwhelming at first, but spend some time reading the hack forum and you should be able to do it. If you can copy and paste files, you can do it. Much better than pulling the head unit and shipping to pioneer. I know your frustration, I was ready to put mine on Ebay when the update locked up mine.
  4. For the back story on my failed install, see the thread in the general discussion forum about 3.0 bricked unit. After using the service menu to format and install wince from the official release, I used the files from the x910bt hack to update my f700bt to 3.0 I thought about manually transferring the files from SD#2 to the unit but first decided to see what would happen if I put in #2 card with the 3.0 hack update running. It started cycling through the sound files on the card. So. I decided to boot the system with the card in and after the pioneer splash screen, it went to the standard wh
  5. More bizarre crap. I updated wince from the files on the pioneer sd card #2 and then to 3.0 with the hack instructions. I decided to see what would happen if I put in #2 card with the 3.0 update. It started cycling through the sound files on the card. So. I decided to boot the system with the card in and after the pioneer splash screen, it went to the standard white update screen with one progress bar, it checked files, then started deleting stuff from My Flash Disk, then it started installing files from the SD card. It took my system to 3.02 and maps to 2.004. It never asked for any cod
  6. Update - I was able to get my head unit to 3.0 using the x910bt files as outline here : viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751
  7. I followed the instructions from this post : viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751, but I used the wince files supplied on SD card #2. Following this, I am now at 3.0 and I have the new maps. I don't know if there is any difference in 3.0 and 3.1, but I will probably still transfer the official files from the SD card over to the head unit and see what happens. This is ridiculous, I wait a month and pay for an official update that crashes my system when I could have done what I did today for free a couple weeks ago. I still don't understand why the update didn't take for me. I guess the files o
  8. I used the reset menu to update wince to the version that was included with the official release. I have downloaded the files to update the unit to 3.0 using the x910bt files. I plan to update this way and then copy the files from the official SD #2 card to the head unit. Maybe this will get me close enough.
  9. I tried to update my system with the official 3.0 update. The first SD card worked fine and updated the system to 2.1 I was able to get my password from the pioneer site and the 2nd SD card started to update. At 3% it failed and asked me to retry. It did this 3 times, then said to contact Pioneer. I researched the forum and found a back up of my unit with 2.0. I booted with testmode and replace the files and folders in My Flash Disk and rebooted. My system was back to stock with version 2.0. I put SD #1 back in and rebooted. It updated to 2.1 and rebooted. No problems so far. I put
  10. I restored the head unit to 2.0 again. Used SD #1 to get the 2.1 update with no problem. I copied SD #2 to my laptop and then put it on a different SD card. I get the same results - 3% and then it fails. I've tried every combination I can think of. Anyone have a solution???????
  11. Is there a reason why I am not able to delete the folder USER under My Flash Drive ? I guess it is related to the wallpaper because after I delete everything it will let me delete, it still have my wallpaper. No idea if that is related to why the unit won't update properly? I also found that after it crashes, if I boot in testmode, it has created a new folder called RENEWAL. If I delete this folder, it will let me somewhat boot up. I can't access the menus and the System in Start Up doens't go away, I can't get to the maps, but I can get to the radio and I can reattempt the update. After
  12. I do have the ground wire moved, but I think most anyone that comes here has done that. I have no idea what the problem is. This is ridiculous. I wiped the headunit and it crashed the same way when I ran the update again. I don't know what to try next.
  13. I restored my unit to 2.0, then I used the 1st pioneer SD card to update. Then I used the 2nd card to complete the update. After it accepted my password, it checked the SD card and started the update. At 3%, it crashed again and I am back where I was yesterday. What should I try next????
  14. I was able to get at least somewhere with a solution. You will need to have a spare SD card and the ability to transfer files to it. You will need to download testmode from the forum and extract it to the SD card. Next, you will need a back up of your unit. Search the forum for a thread about fixing a rebooting unit. One of the members has an FTP site that has backups of all the models. This will be several rar files. Extract the rar files and it will create a folder for "My Flash Disk". Put this folder on the SD card. So now when you open the SD card, you will have a folder called te
  15. Ok, so I need to replace the files and folder in My flash Disk with the backup from turboss? Will this put the unit back to factory 2.0? Will it get rid of the unit booting to upgrade mode? Will this affect my device nubmer? After I replace the files, the unit should update with the 2 SD cards from the official update? Looking for some feedback before I start deleting files.
