  1. Well at least we can all dream. There's nothing technologically challenging about doing something like this. It's already there in most android handsets on the market. It will certainly be costly - look at the unsubsidized price of something like an Evo, and then add a larger screen to it - but not challenging for any decent size company to work out.
  2. It's game over when this happens. Windows CE is awful compared to Android, and as a plus, Android is built from the ground up with network, GPS, bluetooth, and audio integration. Google Maps Navigation has come a long way and is really nice on my Evo. Can't see why it wouldn't make a great interface when built into the dash. The OS and all of this "stuff" also run very efficiently on a low power ARM core. Basically, my Evo does everything that my F700-BT does (one in each car installed, too, I'm not a troll). It's just currently in the wrong package/form factor. An Android-powere

Phone Make/Model: Palm Centro Carrier (ATT, TUSMOBIL, Verizon, etc.): Sprint Location: US Pairing Compatibility: Yes Phonebook Transfer: Yes Make/Receive Calls: Both Voice Dialing: Name (Have not tried Number) SMS Alert: Not Sure Despite other reports, the F700BT with 2.0 firmware transfers my Centro phonebook. It does have one bug. It shows contacts with multiple phone numbers, but lists each as "general" so you can't voice dial the specific one. For instance, if I say "Call Bob" it will say multiple numbers, show both on the screen, and I touch the one I want. Because they're
  4. Thanks, I actually did find that forum after this. From what I can tell, you can use the regular harness adapter from Scosche or Metra, but it doesn't tap into the CAN bus, so you don't get some of the various sensor wires. Namely, you'd have to get illumination and some of the accessory wires elsewhere. The C2R-VW helps with this. On a B5.5 Passat like this one, though, the reverse and brake sensors aren't on the CAN bus, so the C2R-VW isn't useful for that. Have to tap the fuse box for reverse. I figure I'll just ground off the parking brake wire as a bypass. The dash kit is nec

    Ipod cable

You need the composite cable with the RCA jacks, the AVIC uses USB to control the ipod, but the audio and video inputs are handled via the RCA inputs, not the USB. Wait, so if I use the stock Pioneer ipod cable, I have to hook up the dock connector on the bottom AND something off of the headphone jack to get it to play? Or will it use the dock connector for everything if I use the Pioneer cable?
  6. I've searched pretty thoroughly, so apologies if this is a dead horse. I'll be installing either an F90BT or an F700BT in a 2004 VW Passat with the monsoon system (double-din). The accessories involved will be an iPhone (not 3g), iPod Classic 30 gig, and iPod Touch 2.0. My questions are: 1. Which dash kit do I need, if any? I can't find a straight answer. Some have used the Pioneer kit, but I'm not sure on the part #. Can this go in without, or do I need one? 2. What harness adapter is best? This car has no steering wheel audio controls. There's a big difference between
