  1. taken from your other thread:

spray pain that metal bracket black, while this wont fix the fitment issue and close the gap, it will at least hide the silver metal and cause it to blend in to the shadow of the gap.

or you could cut a strip of black ABS and epoxy it to the rest of the dash kit to properly fill the dash kit.

the kit probably has that gap to allow for nav units that have moving faces that need a little more room at the bottom to clear all the moving parts.

  2. for the record, i have over 10k songs in 50gb loaded on my ipod via itunes, works like a damn champ!

first off, i would have put all of the media on the ipod instead of very little (especially since your convinced its a capacity issue) of your library. especially since it did start working after our "test"

but then you wasted an entire (insert your amount of time here) re-syncing your library your way just to have it still not work. the whole point of the test was to see if it would start working if you used itunes (which it passed) but then without fully testing it, you went back to the old way that you know didn't work. i still dont se how you could think this is still a problem with the pioneer.

I cant for the life of me understand why in the world anyone would rather use a front input for an ipod when one of the best features of the radio is its ipod interface(it surely isn't its nav interface!), not to mention charging the ipod with another cable if you use AV2. then there's having to make sure that the ipod's volume setting is just right... is this really a question? over "more powerful playlist"? its media syncing, 1st party software is almost always better than 3rd party software, use what works, its playlist for crying out loud, you put the list of songs you like into list. rigging is weaksause!

  3. for the versa, did you use a plastic dash kit or the factory metal brackets?

If you used the factory brackets, you can drill new holes to be able to mount the radio a little deeper in the dash so it doesn't stick so far out.but this wont help with gap from the slightly bigger OEM Nissan radio.

but if you used the dash kit, it should have came with a little piece of trim plastic to fill the gap around the radio, and most brands of dash kits have slotted mounting holes so that you can adjust how far the radio sticks out as different brands can vary a bit.

  4. It's a little counter-intuitive, though, seeing as I have no video going in.

but when using this source, the screen is black because it is a video source, your just not using it as such.

what i would love to see, is an option for audio only so when i have my phone plugged in to the front input, it could at least show the normal GUI screen with at least the clock showing!

  5. Can you set AV2 to VIDEO?

+1 as mentioned, it is not an aux input but it is an Audio & Video input. he didn't tell you this to be a dick just to correct you, he told you this because since it is a AV input, the setting needs to be set to "VIDEO" for it to work.

ext1 is a setting for future expansion of devices that pioneer may (or more likely, will never) come out with that will plug into the IP-Bus.

just tested on our 940 display, setting AV2 to video will make it show up as a selectable source.

also your on the wrong page of the manual, try reading page 179, left side about halfway down

    (copy and paste)

    Setting video input 2 (av2)

you can switch this setting according to the

    connected component.

. This setting applies to RCA inputs

(AUDIO INPUT and VIDEO INPUT)on the

    back of the system.

1 Display the "AV System Setting"

    screen.

. For details, refer to Displaying thge screen for

AV systems on the previous page.

    2 Touch [AV2 Input]

Each touch of [AV2 Input] changes the set-

    ting as follows:

. OFF: No video component is connected.

. EXT: Pioneer external unit connected with

    the RCA video cable

    . Video: External video component

  6. ^yep, your radio has a MSN Direct receiver, MSN is no longer broadcasting anything for that receiver to pick up, your unit also does not have any other receivers to pick up any other signals.

what really grinds my gears is that pioneer took away the ability to use the traffic information from XM so that you HAD to use MSN (probably due to a large sum of money from Microsoft) and now that Microsoft has abandoned their service, i think they should pay for pioneer to develop a fix!

  7. VBLUE, I'm not sure what you mean by using iTunes as a test unless you mean sync some tracks using it.
he is saying that you should try to use itunes to restore (yes, wipe clean, and then resync you media) as a test to see if using itunes will fix the problem

I don't want to because of what I said above. I'd rather use the AV2 input for now than go thru all the hassle of resyncing and it still not work.
what hassle? its a couple of mouse clicks and then walk away from the computer for a couple of hours. sounds pretty simple to me, but it you dont want to try things to get it to work, then i guess your all set with your "plan B"

i have also seen non apple software cause issues with some of the pioneer, which is why even though i hate apple and most of what they stand for, i always use itunes, not to mention that it is great software that works.

also just because one device works using 3rd party software, doesn't mean that another will there is quite a bit of difference between the ipod and iphone software.

  8. It never worked before with my Iphone but I could plug a usb drive in here.
where you just trying to use a normal USB sync cable? if so there is your problem, RTFM
    Did you have required cable?

    ^^^this^^^

  9. What a POS.

wait a minute, your pissed because pioneer didn't plan for what apple was going to release in the future? yeah, that makes a ton of sense, we all know how apple loves to share information with other companies before (or even after for that matter) they release new products or services.

actually all joking aside, i was so pissed too when i found out that my Yamaha DVD player wouldn't play Blu ray disc! so i feel your pain.

  10. well for starters, acc power is usually to turn things on, and constant power is usually to keep the memory.

now let me get this right,

    ( a ) your having memory problems?

( b ) you didn't hook the unit up to constant power as shown in the instructions?

( c ) you thought it would be easier to go online and ask questions instead of following the directions and see if that fixes your problem?

does that about cover it? if so, i think your answer is somewhere in you manual, RTFM!

  11. Is it possible to display current speed on map screen

I'm sure that it is much safer to look over and down at the radio to see how fast you are going instead of looking at the cluster.

  12. if, with the reverse wire disconnected completely, it is still behaving exactly like it does in the video, you probably have an issue with your AVIC itself. i would remove it completely from the car and hook it up on a bench and test all of its functions, if found defective, you will probably have to send it to pioneer to have it repaired, hopefully it is still under warranty (unless it is new enough to just be returned to the place you bought it from) if it is working perfectly outside of the car, then it is probably time to take it somewhere and have it diagnosed.

afterthought, when you say that the reverse wire is disconnected, do you mean from where it is tapped into away from the radio or is the wire cut at the radio? the only reason that i ask this is because it is possible that if the reverse wire is ran somewhere away from the radio, it could have gotten pinched when the car was reassembled which could be triggering the reverse screen.

  13. If you use f500bt wiring harness there is connection for audio out which will work with aux or line in on your factory stereo.

    That's how mine is connected.

BUT when hooked up like this, you dont get a lot of the designed features. basically your F500 is now a source of the factory radio, so when a call comes in and you listing to either a CD or FM radio, you will have to switch the source over to the aux channel and then answer the phone call, where the system is designed to mute all of the audio sources when a call comes in so that you dont miss the call because you didn't hear it ringing over the music.

and same with the unit interrupting the audio source when new directions are giving for turn by turn navigation, if listing to CD or FM radio (or even sat radio if your car has that option) the AVIC has no way of muting the music so that you can hear the directions.

call me crazy, but if i spent that much money on a device, then i would like it to work as designed, and i would like all of the features to work.
