  1. How do I fix this?

well your unit is either broke and needs to be sent in to be fixed, or there is a problem with your install like having the ACC and constant wires hooked up backwards.

what kind of car is this installed in?(this should always be listed when asking for help with a problem like this as car specific can make a huge difference in where to start troubleshooting)  the reason i ask is some cars use other cars harnesses but sometimes the pin out is different

for example: certian model ford focuses and a few Mercedes use a Volkswagen wire harness, everything is the same EXCEPT for the red and yellow wires are reversed (so when installing the radio, the radios red wire goes to the harnesses yellow wire, and the radios yellow wire goes to the harnesses red wire)

regardless, to figure this problem out, you will need a meter, and will need to check to make sure that the radios yellow wire has 12v 100% of the time, and that the radio's red wire only has 12v when the key is turned on and has no voltage when the key is turned off. if your car does meter correctly, then there is an internal problem with your unit.

  2. So the most we can do here is 32gb SD card and 32gb USB storage -- both formatted FAT32?

And does anyone have a better answer to the file sorting issue other than downloading DiskSort or FolderSort from the internet?

dont have any problem getting more storage by using an Ipod...

...also there doesnt seem to be any problems with file sorting either.

  3. That wasn't so hard, was it?

well actually it took some more of my personal time away that i could be doing something that actually makes me money or helps somebody out that doesn't need to be spoon fed everything.

the point is that i shouldn't have to keep repeating myself for people who are too lazy to read through themselves.

there are a lot of knowledgeable guys on here that do a lot to contribute to make this site as informational as possible, they dont get paid for their help, they are here doing it just to help out the community. the bare minimum that could be showed to these people would be to actually read everything in the topic THEN ask questions about it. I dont know what makes people feel that they are so important that they dont need to do any of their own reading, and should just ask all the same questions over and over and over again. its one thing if you didn't understand how the answer was given and need clarification, but its completely different to ask questions that were already given the time to be addressed. if you want help, you need to at least be willing to do your part and help yourself when able to. if your not willing to do your part, then you should seek the help you need from somebody that is actually getting paid for that help, like somebody at pioneer tech support (good luck with that...)

  4. why do not you just connect the green to black (ground)?

well that is simple, you either A: do not live in America (discussed earlier), B: have no idea how this unit (or any pioneer model of recent) functions (also covered earlier in this tread), or C: have not read much of any of the last 14 pages.

hell, very well could be all of these...

dont worry, i wont make you waste "15 minutes you'll never get back"

A: that just dosnt work for American units

B: AMERICAN pioneer units need to "see" ground applied, removed, then reapplied AFTER the unit boots up (most models anyway, others may need a second wire moved and grounded)

C: both of the above mentioned issues have been mentioned at least once in this thread, instead of reading the title and just responding thinking we are all just idiots that didn't try that and just like to over complicate things because we are board...

  5. timely firmware updates with android? yeah right, unless you have a nexus device, you will always be behind on updates. if your lucky, its only a few months, a lot of the time its a year or more if ever...

unfortunately, this is how it is with just about all of the brands, something has to be seriously wrong or broken for them to go back through and release a fix for it.

  6. buy a tr7, then buy a relay (dont worry about whether your getting a newer or older model as 99% of places selling them wont know the difference, and since the older one is, well older, its going to be harder and harder to find one. that was more just thrown in there because sooner or later someone with a super old module that bought it used would pop on here...)

then print out the very first post (and probably the second as well because of the small typo) and give it to the installer (if your installer sells TR7's then they should be much more familiar with them...)

then pay for the install, thats it

if they cant figure it out from there, you picked the wrong installer... never return. instead find a shop that can follow a set of directions

there is a reason why one of the moderator's of this site made this thread and choose to title it the "official bypass thread". its because the very first post has every thing you need to get it to work, and work right. if there was incorrect or incomplete information, the moderator would have edited it a long time ago.

  7. yes the alpine mode does two things, it provides a positive output (for foot brake) on then off, and it provides a negative output for the hand brake on, off, and back on. so if you just hook the AR up to the hand brake wire, it will give out the "set, release, set" signal of the brake that the AR is looking for. (i haven't verified it myself, but in theory it should work fine, and others have said they have had success)

  8. the voice control is not all that great, the older F and X series used to have this feature, and it worked kinda OK sometimes. mostly if you want to show off to your friends, but as for day to day use, it just gets annoying and i would rather just use the buttons and get the job done faster.

  9. the reason the connection time is so fast on the D3 is because the bluetooth is handled through an external module, therefor the module can start to power up while the avic is booting.

the reason that the newer avics take so long to connect is because the bluetooth hardware is inside the AVIC, therefor the AVIC needs to fully boot up, before it can load the drivers for its hardware, and SD playback and bluetooth are the last things to get turned on.

so, long story short, no there is not really anything you can do to make you phone connect any faster.

  10. That's what I was wondering. What are all these people watching while they drive?

    silly rabbit,

doesn't mean that the driver is watching anything, very well could be passengers watching through auxiliary screens as designed or even legally while parked...

  11. Are they outputting analog video

if they have a VGA adapter that outputs video, they are outputting analog also

or converting down to analog do you think?
you cant convert any type of digital signal to any type of analog signal with out some form of processing or device doing the conversion which a simple adapter wont have

wouldn't it be more likely there was an HDMI to 30 pin that was made aftermarket, or does HDMI need a power source

HDMI to 30 pin (old ipod to new TV) would be useful for anybody that needs something like that but it all comes down to what build their devices to do, and since they dont like sharing a lot of their information, we can only wait to find out what they can or will make
  12. I guess that analog video is dead forever in their eyes?
Well VGA is an analog video signal, not digital, so while this is not the right signal that we need, it is at least a good sign that video being outputted from the unit is not dead. if the units are outputting VGA, then composite video output is not that far off, its probably now just a waiting game until the correct adapter comes out, because VGA can be converted to component, and component is just a more broken down version of composite. there is still hope!

however it is also likely that we will see newer systems that work with the newer hardware before we see the right adapters.

  13. one of two things is gonna happen, either apple will release a lightning plug to usb AND composite video out only if the signal is actually sent through the lightning plug, and once apple makes it, everybody else can)

or what signals are sent through the plug are not compatible and the next generation of avic(hopefully the next generation) will address this issue, and unless you are willing to replace your nav system, you will be screwed
