I have the same questions as above. The outer edges of my screen on my D2 have died so I am looking to upgrade.
Are the wiring harnesses compatibale?

Disc work great!!!!

fatboy - there is no coverage is Stafford, as for the I-95 situation, that is rare. I have found if I plot a route and it uses any part of the Beltway, I get good results. Also, I have found that the instant traffic reports update a little faster then the maps so between the two I have no issues

I don't know how bad the roads are in Nashville but in the DC Metro area it has been a life saver. Updates come rather quickly

Checking in to see what the progress was on getting the 70 series disc made/loaded/accessible? Thanks.

Count me in if someone would be nice enough to make some copies. Lord knows I have been trying unsucessfully to make copies of my 60 series disc, but that's enough story.

Does anyone have a clue of when the updated disc will appear for sale? I have checked the Pioneer site and talked to folks their and at Crutchfield and they have no idea. Thanks

Nice install

Just give it a good firm tug and it pops out. Grab the wire close the where it enters the harness and you will be fine

Thanks for the heads up. I have been using Dual Layer DVD. I will do a search for Alchol on Google and give that a shot Thanks.

ok. I have blown through a 5 pack of DVD+R (luckily they were on sale) with no luck at creating a Navi disk. So here is my questions
a. After using DVD Decrypter, I have two files (CPJ1175_1_A.ISO and CPJ1175_1_A.MDS). Are these the correct files for the East Coast DVD?
b. I open the ISO in MagicISO, make the changes to the appropriate files (changing the BG2OPEN.JPG and adding a couple of PIMs). I save this file. Should I make this ISO a "bootable image?"
c. I open Nero, insert a dual-layer DVD, drop the files onto the DVD and burn.
d. I get DIDDLY!!! NADA!!! ZIP!!!! When I load the DVD into my D2. Please help. Thanks.

Then updated maps will have to do. I will be using the iPod as a video source anway.
-
As a recent D2 owner, I wonder how many of the D3 upgrades will be available via a software update? For instance, will the newer maps be backwards compatible? How about the iPod interface improvements?
Actually, those are the only two I can concerned about. Give me those two and I'm happy.

I agree. I would not believe this until it appears on the Pioneer site. Looks like someone just grabbed a pick and description from the Pioneer press release and now claim to have the unit.

Any old A/V cable will do. You can go the Monster Cable route, just make sure the cable is long enough to reach the area where the PS2 will be located
-
Cool, the video looks good on the larger screen. Would be nice to have the album art when playing music but I can live without it. Well, it's off to the Apple store
-
OK...not trying to turn my ride into KITT... If the XtremeMac cable does not display the album art that is cool. As long as I get video, I can work with that

What's good, folks.
I am looking to purchase an iPod and want to hook it up to my D2. I have officially be turned off of the Pioneer unit, as it universally has received bad reviews.
Question about the Roadshow cable...when playing music using this cable, will the iPod screen be visible on the D2, displaying the album art, etc? I know I will not be able to control the iPod through the D2 touch screen, but I want to know if the cable will transfer all the images from the iPod to the D2.
Also, for those with experience, is the sound quality acceptable? My assumption is that it will be better then using the headphone jack. Thanks in advance.

Glad it helped. My next task is to tackle some backgrounds and load screens for the D2. Also going to pick up a 30 gig iPod and the Xtrememac Roadshow cable in a week or so. I will keep you all posted

Here are some pics from the install. These were taken on the fly with a Nokia 6682 so they are not National Geographic quality.
The cover and tint do not effect the XM coverage, get "Very Strong" all over the Tidewater region and DC Metro. GPS seems to be about 100 meters off from actual location but I hear that is an issue with other installs.

I've tried it several times with no luck (http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3441) any suggestions would be appreciated

What's good, folks.
Here is the situation, I have an AVIC-D2, bypassed working great. I followed the background instructions to the letter and get the "Inappropriate Disc" error.
I am using a Norwood Micro DVD Burner, Nero, MagicISO, DVD Encrypter and have tried both Memorex DVD-R/DL and Sony DVD+RW/SL.
When I was using the single layer Sony, I had to delete everything but the BG folder to make it small enough to fit on the SL disc. Switched to the DL Memorex, made a direct copy without and only added two (2) PIM files and one JPEG and got the same Inappropriate Disc error.
My question(s) are:
1. When saving with Nero, should I save as a Data disc or Boot (I think that is the option) disc?
2. When using MagicISO, I have the option to make it a Bootable or Nonbootable image, which should I chose?
Thanks in advance for your help
