  1. The reason Pioneer does stuff like this is because it works for them. I have been on this forum sense 2006. And every year I have been on this forum Pioneer has marketed in this manner and every year there are a new group of consumers that fall for it. All of you are the new group of consumers that I am speaking of. And every year people complain in this manner and claim of filing law suits. And every year nothing changes and no one ever gets sued. As I mentioned before, the clause "specifications are subject to change" covers their ass. All that being said guys, you will get AVIC SYNC and Car Play. You just may not get it when you want or when you feel entitled to it. One thing you will never get is a release date. Enough said.

  2. Guys enough with all the speculation, seriously. The issue is likely on Pioneer's end. In the past they have had the worst software programmers and they likely still suffer from less the ideal people here. The issue is likey integration of Car Play into the rest of the system. Like the ability to have audio from the unit playing while in Car Play mode. Imagine not being able to play Pandora or a CD while navigating with Apple maps. Can you imagine how pissed you would be after waiting on this update and that's what you got? It's happened like this before from them so they are likely just trying to get full integration right. Give it rest already. It will come out when it comes out.

  3. I'm going to stick with my initial assumption that Ferrari gets first crack at this. Once they release a car with Carplay the update will follow.

Yeah thats it, take a car company that not only wont sell to just anyone, but will only sell to people they approve and that have enough money to buy an island. I mean, its not like Apple and Pioneer are catering to the masses here or anything. Please........What Ferrari gets and when has absolutly no baring on this.

  4. This is reflected by their opting to not go with a major player in GPS navigation.  If they had gone with Garmin, they could have included HD Digital Traffic and not even have to depend on a SmartPhone for data transfer.

The navi software Pioneer is using for the new units is based on iGo which is one of the bigest navi apps in the world so they are going with a major player here. And Pio cant use Garmin sense they are in bed with Kenwood.

  5. Guys always remember the little disclaimer: specifications are subject to change. So, there will be no refunds from Pioneer because of this. And remember, they have done stuff like this before.

  6. Well, sense there are no updates on NEX site at all I don't know why we are even still have this conversation. Regardless, Pioneer has never added a feature like this to a firmware update as opposed to just maintenance improvements so again, with no previous updates yet sense the unit was released the firmware number is irrelevant.

  7. But I guess pioneer may ditch app radio mode, although I'm not convinced

That is what I am referring to. Most people want simple that works effortlessly without all the nagging that Pioneer requires to use app mode. Car Play is going to do that and there will be no room for App Mode at that point. Once people stop using it Pioneer will move on so it doesn't matter if AppEx gives you full control if Pioneer no longer supports the protocol. It won't happen over night but I wouldn't be surprised if App Mode is killed within a year or so after Car play. We will see though.

  8. I am referring to promises and statements made over the last 8 or so years I've been on this forum. You would know what I mean if you had been on here longer. Many times people on the phone at Pioneer have stated this and that would be included in an update only to find out it's not there on release so I'm trying to help people not set themselves up for disappointment. And don't be so quick to question people that know the company and have seen how they work for many years.

  9. I was told by Pioneer "later this month along with CarPlay" when I asked.

Just remember they've given horribly inaccurate info before so dont set yourself up for disappointment here.

  10. I dont think this will work, appradio has to be setup via smartphone setup to av adapter, carplay will have to be setup as usb. This would be like hooking up two smartphones, and since appradio uses bluetooth to communicate, it would be really nice to have it all available.

You are assuming that is how it will be setup. The fact is no one knows what will need to be done to have Car Play working but it is assumed you wont be able to use both together. We wont know until the firmware is released so lets all please wait until then before we start posting how it will work.
