ok - this is pretty confusing...

I downloaded the Testmode files from download/file.pho?id=4529.

The instructions say put these 2 folders on the root of an sd card. Which two folders? I unzipped the testmode files and put them right on the root of the sd card. What else do I need to do here? What two folders? What should the name of the two folders be? What does MiTACAP have to do with this, and where do I get it from?

Puzzled and searching the forums hasn't yielded me any help...

It looks like you unzipped the CONTENTS of the Testmode and Miticap folders into the root of your SD card, correct?

You actually need to retain both of those folders in the root of the SD card.

 

...and I was having problems booting from my card, also - even though it was formatted FAT32. It *did* have a name, though - so I just reformatted the card and then put the two folders in the root and it booted fine.

How do I retain both of the folders? Which two folders? I'm missing something here...

It is formatted to "FAT" status according to windows.

It's my first time playing around with modding...I put all the testmode files on my card in the root directory as advised (trying to do the 'kill beep' mod). See the attachment.

When I put the sd card in and start up the car, it's like the sd card doesn't exist...it goes straight to my radio.

Isn't something supposed to happen that shows me the OS or something?

Why dont you just use one of the modded data.zip files that has the software bypass in it... I use the software bypass and it works just as good as the hardware.

because even with the software bypass, there is still hardware grounding that you have to do.

I am driving down from Ottawa this wknd and was wondering if anyone in toronto can do the hardware bypass for me, as I'm a nervous wreck doing any hardware stuff with my car.

agreed - can one of the modders address this? Is modding the avic to allow to control the presets from the steering wheel a difficult mod to develop? GTImatt? IDT? Thoughts?

my installer said it was the 'green' wire that needs to be grounded, correct?

updating presets from the steering wheel would be even better!!

The 3.0 update is both a software and a map update. The reason it will be a paid upgrade is due to the map licensing fees. However, it may be split into two options, software (free) and if you want to pay, then maps as well.

This is very dangerous as well if I wanted to go from 88.5 to 93.9, I should be able to press one button on my wheel as opposed to scanning station by station from my wheel to get it.

I had the same problem, drove me nuts, I went through three different pioneer radios. My factory AM sounds great, pioneer horrible. I finally had a separate antenna attached through a Y connector and now have a small antenna behind my rearview mirror. It worked really good. I would say 90% of perfect. I could get more info from installer if anyone is interested. Bottom line is AM tuner in pioneer sucks. The RCA connections seem to cause me problems too.

Was the Y connector connected to the Pioneer unit? I have a vision of a wire running from your pioneer to your rearview mirror.

I have a Santa Fe - am I taking my life in my own hands to try to figure out how to get to the back on my own?

Folks, as you know, I bought my new rig with the F700 already installed. My problem is, I see the USB cable in the glove compartment, but can't find the AV input anywhere. Any idea where it is? Is it 100% part of the f700, or is it just too short that it's impossible to see?

The reason I ask is I wanted to get the CD-IU230V cable, but don't want to get it if there's nothing on the F700 to plug it into!

I would also like the idea of random splash screens

me too - although after reading all the pages of this thread, I don't think there is a way to do it. I would think that the system always looks for the same file.

Will be following this thread to see if anything materializes. I had this feature in my old Jeep Liberty and would love to have it on the AVIC!

Would really love to have the ability to go through the presets through the wheel instead of frequencies.

Once this is done, I'm happy as a fiddle!

The Bluetooth Update with 2.0 was worse with my iPhone 3G so I went back to the previous version.

When you say 'worse', what do you mean? Performance? Clarity? Compatibility?

So far my Curve is working great on it, so not sure I wanna do the update, unless there is another reason to do it that I'm not aware of...
